I am looking to lose a few pounds, maybe 15, and I was wondering if someone could give me a list of foods that would be considered both healthy and for weight loss. I like to keep things simples, just need a list of food that I can eat, and maybe a list of can nots.

Thanks!

Thanks for the answers, but I am really just looking for a list. Eat this, or don't eat this!

go for high fiber, low fat. some examples include:

fruits
vegetables
whole grain breads
beans/legumes
high fiber cereals (all bran, optimum power, total, etc...)
skim milk and low fat/fat free dairy products
skinless, low fat meats (any kind... chicken, steak, pork, fish)
brown rice
if you cook with oil, use olive oil
drink your water!!

go online and see if you can find a list of weight watchers core foods. you can eat anything on that list until you are full. there is no calorie counting and you will lose the weight.

There are no foods you can always eat and no foods you can never eat!

Your body needs a list of chemicals to work properly.

What you do need is a caloric deficit either by eating less or by exercising more or by a combination of the two (the latter is the savviest option in the long-term).

Diets help you loosing weight but if you overdo with caloric deficit you become lower weight but higher fat. Exercise isn't very helpful in induction phase but it's essential in keeping up with results and change your body composition for the better.

Restrict simple sugars and saturated fats, use sweeteners, eat more proteins and complex carbs, be sure to eat all the calcium and essential fats you need.

This is valid for ANY food combination you might choose... just remember that for example chocolate too can be a good choice provided you choose the 70% dark one, and peanut butter is excellent if you get the one without added salt and added transfats.

Read the labels and choose accordingly :)

Well, the obvious is steer clear of junk food - chips, cookies, soda, candy bars, etc.
Try to eat fresh fruit and fresh veggies. The canned and frozen variety as not AS good. If you don't have access to fresh, frozen will do (as it still retains more nutrients during the freezing process than canned veggies do during the canning process). When you eat meat and fish, do not fry it. Try to grill, bake or broil it. Eat one large salad everyday. If you eat that before dinner, you might find that you end up eating less...which you should make the last meal of the day light since it's closest to bed time. Drink plenty of water.
Exercise at least three times per week for at least a half hour at a time. It doesn't have to be anything major - you can go on a brisk walk in the park, play catch with your dog, roller skate (does anyone do that anymore?! LOL), ride a bike, etc.
The weight will fall off...just be consistent!
Good luck!

Eat healthy foods- proteins, complex carbs, vegetables, etc. Avoid sugars and simple carbs, and packaged foods that are "diet"- they're just loaded with corn syrup.

Substitute your crisp snacks for fruit and water. And that will make a big difference.

And stop eating junk food!!!

That's all you need to do.

It's all the little changes that make a big difference.
