Never been to a race. My husband is really into NASCAR but hasn't been to a race either. Thinking about trying to get tickets. From Baltimore, Dover is closer but Pocono has more to do in the area. Any suggestions, insight? Pros and cons of both (or either) appreciated. Thanks.

Dover!! I love Dover!! It is fast, exciting and has good racing. Many people find Pocono boring. I have never been there, but it is 2.5 miles, and that is big. I am not sure how well you can see turn 2 from the grandstands. I doubt you can very well, definately not well enough to know which car is which. Dover is only a mile and you can see the whole track from your seat.

I've seen a bunch of races at both tracks and I prefer the Dover race to Pocono because you can see just about the entire track with Dover. Pocono, on the other hand, is a 2 mile track and a lot of the track is hidden because of the infield, etc. The cars are going fast but you can only see about 2/3 of the track. The traffic flow is much better at Dover than Pocono. Count on hanging around Pocono at least 2-3 hours before you can get out.

Dover! You can actually see the racing. Pocono is aweful. Most of the race happens far from the grandstands; there is some great racing there and it requires some incredible skill by both Driver and Crew; but to see a race a Pocono; you don't see much.

Dover; there's not a bad seat in the house. No matter where you are you'll see the action.

As was said, both are equally as good.

Pocono gives an intresting race, in like Darlington, no matter what the set up, your car isnt gonna be good in a corner or two, and the racing there is good. The problem is that for a 500 mile race, its too long, and if your there to watch a race, from what I heard, the views arent exactly the best.

Dover is a 1 mile version of Bristol, and the action is always exciting, the problem with Dover though is not with its racing action or views, its that there is virturally 1 highway that runs through Dover, and try getting 100,000+ racing fans out of a town on one highway, especially one where most people are more than likely heading North, since the majority of the population that goes to Dover lives north of the speedway.

I have been to Pocono twice and both times the traffic was horrible but the racing was great plus i love the triangular shaped and the really wide frontstretch. The track is very large though so if you wanna see the whole track you prolly should sit up higher unless you sit low and just watch the big screen TV also the TV will sho the replays. I dont know anything about Dover

If I were going to my first race I would pick Pocono as the race to see.It is larger than Dover and would be easier to follow.
Dover is a good fast track and things happen fast.
But for my first trip I would go to Pocono.
Good luck.
That's all I have to say about that.

My first Nascar race was Dover last year!! I loved it!! It was great because I could see EVERYTHING! My boyfriends first race was at Pocono and I can't get him to go to any races with me because he hated it so much...luckily I have a friend that goes with me now. This year we are going to the Pepsi 400 and Dover again!!

DOVER DOVER DOVER!!!
Good racing and you can see the whole track!

I hate having to go to Pocono 2 times a year and I'm getting paid to be there. So I can't see why people would spend money to go there.

I been to Pocono once (2003) and go to Dover every June (since 2001) to me Dover wins hands down as a better overall experience.

You can't beat the Monster.

I like Dover better. There seems to be better racing there. Not a lot of passing and lead changes at Pocono.
