I am 26 and have had fibromyalgia (FM) for almost 7 years now. Everything I read about FM is on management and living with the condition. It would be great to hear if anyone has had sucess in overcoming this horrible (invisible) disease.

I was diagnosed with figromyaglia when I was twenty four (6 years ago.) I had every possible symptom for two years from aches and pains to the "fibro fog" and bad sleep. Then I got pregnant with my first child. The symptoms stopped in the first trimester of pregnancy and they have not come back. After I delivered him, I waited for the pain to start again and it just hasn't. It can only be a miracle. There is hope, and this is coming from someone who had convinced herself that feeling pain at least meant I was alive.

I am 52. I was diagnosed with fibro app. 13 yrs ago. I also had some very early symptoms years apart that I at one time thought was caused from arthritis. It wasn't. There are other diseases that are similar to fibro. There is not cure for fibromyalgia. If you have it you have had it from birth. However it sometimes takes years for the disease to completely manifest itself. I have been taking Guaifenesin for my fibro for over 8 years. It is not a cure but it helps a lot with pain. I was able to completely stop my pain meds withing 3 years of starting guai. This is remarkable progress considering that I was on pain meds everyday every 6-8 hrs depending on how bad the pain was. You have to follow a certain protocol for this med to work. Here are some websites: www.fibromyalgiatreatment.com

On the above site you can link to an online support group full of people who are and have been taking this med. They are a lot of help.

Follows is the website of the Doctor who started this protocol.

Fibromyalgia is pretty much about learning how to live with the condition and lessen the pain. I read the answer from the other poster about Guafenesin. I was a patient of Dr. St. Amand for six years and followed everything he said and there was absolutely no improvement ever. Many of my friends who have Fibromyalgia also went to Dr. St. Amand, because we lived very close to his office, I have not seen any of my friends get any results and believe me everybody followed the protocol.

You can try the treatment, perhaps it will work for you .I have not seen it Help anybody.

I've enclosed an article you can read about Living with Fibromyalgia.
