The most common banana's that you are talking about are yellow, soft and sweet so they are considered dessert banana's. But there are also green, purple and and red banana's. Green bananas are mostly used in cooking. Bananas are picked green, and ripen in special rooms upon arrival in their destination country. These rooms are air tight and filled with ethylene gas to induce ripening. The vivid yellow color associated with supermarket bananas is in fact a side effect of this ripening process,

ok, ill try to answer these interesting dumb questions. orange is a fruit coz it is. all i know ( not tryin to sound smart ****) that orange got it named as you obviously see from its colours. anyways, about blue, we have blue berries... does that every enter your mind? :P and banana, i leave that to the apes man. LOL
