and you probably didnt believe anybody who said "dont do it"?
when you are undereating you lose water weight and muscle NOT fat and end up gaining weight because your body goes into starvation mode - does the same job for less calories.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

That's because you aren't eating enough. You need to eat more so your metabolism doesn't slow down. The slower your metabolism is than the less you weight you will lose. Try eating 5 small meals throughout the day for a total of 1500 calories.

Breakfast: 300 calories
Snack: 100 calories
Dinner: 400 calories
Snack: 200 calories
Supper: 500 calories

Stop starving yourself! It is clearly ruining your metabolism. Your body is trying its best to conserve all the calories you are taking in. In addition to eating fewer calories (than normal--not fewer than 900), you also need to be burning calories in order to lose weight. Try foods that will jump-start your metabolism (i.e. fish or even apples), and exercise. And don't mess up your hormones by starving yourself--try to eat about 1500 calories/day. If you are an active person, you will probably burn about 2200 calories/day and see some healthy weight loss. If this is not the problem then you might want to go to a doctor and get your thyroid checked out, someone with an underactive thyroid would have trouble losing weight (even if they do it the right way).

Whats going on is that your are only eating 900 calories a day!!!! The body needs a set number of calories to simply breathe, pump blood, ya know LIVE! You will only gain weight cutting calories so drastically because the body will assume the world is in famine mode and will store every bit of food you put into it to keep from dying. On the bright side since you are gaining weight it's a sign that in the event of locust infestation, destruction of all food, ice age so forth you'd live! Now that you know you could survive without food please eat more.

Weight gain generally happens because you don't burn up your caloric intake. If you eat such a tiny amount, but lay on the couch all day, you could till gain weight!

If you're a female of menstruating age, it could just be temporary water weight.

If you are normally active, I'd look into other health issues. The first that comes to mind is hypothyroidism - an underactive thyroid. Your doctor can check this through a simple blood test.

Since you don't say anything about your age, sex, activity level, or other health conditions, it's pretty hard to make another guess!

Your body is starving itself and thus conserving all the calories it can. A minimum diet is 1000 unless you are seeing a doctor. 1200-1500 calories would be better - and start exercising (burning about 200 calories per day).

I can't give an answer that is better than what has already been give, you need to eat more not less. You motabolism is built to think, hmmm, not getting enough food, better store what I do get as fat in case their is a famine. Reassure your motabolism. The quickest way is with some protein.

Are you retaining water? Press into your shin for about 30 seconds with your forefinger if an indentation lasts more than a second or so you are retaining water.
