I was just wondering - I looked at my experian credit report and I have 9 negative and 2 positive items on my credit report. This I am assuming is making my credit lower.

How do I go about getting all my reports and then what can I do to increase my credit rating over the next 3 - 5 months?

How do I do this without annualcreditreport.com? I looked at that 5 months ago - and you can only use it once a year - or so I have been told.

And now for the right answer....LOL.
If you use annualcreditreport.com, it is true that you can only pull them once per year. Since you have only pulled Experian, you can still use the site to access and pull your other two reports. If not, you can always go to their direct sites and request one. www.transunion.com or www.equifax.com.
You are assuming correctly - the negative items are not exactly helping your score. The only two things that will truly help your score are making on-time payments and reducing your debt ratio. (meaning the amount you are borrowing v/s the amount you are able to borrow).
In order to take a step in the right direction, address those negative items. If they are collections, pay them off or try to negotiate a settlement. This will not increase your score, but it will make your report look a lot better.
Improving your score in the next 3-5 months is not entirely realistic. You would need to wait almost a whole year to see any signifigant change in your score. Reason being, the three credit bureaus have "tapes" that are only changed every 90 days. The tapes collect our credit history for three months and our credit scores and information are only changed and updated when the tapes are changed. That's why you can sometimes pull your report two months in a row and they contain exactly the same information.
Just give yourself some time. I always tell my clients that they didn't destroy their credit over night and they're not going to repair it over night either. Keep plugging away and things will change. Good luck!

The once a year refers to the law that states you can get your credit report free once every calendar year. Unfortunately, in order to make sure everything you want straightened out is straightened out, you may have to purchase another report in 3-4 months. The fees typically run about $15-20 per report. Get a free report from all the bureaus first. Review them all and see if there is any erroneous information on there. Write dispute letters to the bureaus to correct the bad info. Then, you need to get another report from each bureau you wrote to at a minimum 3 months, maximum 6 months. It typically takes 30-60 days for a dispute to be resolved and updated. If there isn't any bad info on the reports, then you need to catch up/pay off on your bills. That will start the repair process on your score. If you have no cards and are up to date on or have no current bills, you may want to apply for a retail store card or secured credit card through your bank. The negative accounts will drop off your reports in 7 year periods. If you have a few late payments showing from 6 1/2 years ago, they will drop off in another 6-7 months. If you closed a credit card 6 1/2 years ago, it will also drop off your report in 6-7 months. Keep your payments up to date and on time and be sure to budget your money to assure you won't run into problems when it comes to paying your bills as they come due.

2. Transunion 1-888-398-3742
3. Experian 1-800-916-8800

You can obtain your credit report from Trans Union, Experian and Equifax all by contacting them at thier respective web sites. Regarding what makes your score lower, late payments will effect it, the amount of available credit you currently have, whether you use it or not (if you don't cancel them, they are doing more harm than good) The time needed to expunge negetive history is 7 years, the best way to improve credit is to add to it rather than wait for old to fall off. www.experian.com www.transunion.com www.equifax.com
