Exodus 14:21-22 says: "Moshe [Moses] stretched out his hand over the sea, and YHWH caused the sea to go back with a fierce east wind all night, and made the sea into firm-ground. The Children of Israel came through the midst of the sea upon the dry-land, the waters a wall for them on their right and on their left." (The Five Books of Moses, by Everett Fox)
No doubt God used, or could have used, both natural and supernatural phenomena to accomplish this. After all, the environment is His work also, and he can use it however he wills. Strong winds, seismic activity, other natural forces could have been used. For the creator of natural phenomena to use it does not make it any less a miracle.

The Bible itself answers this question ....if I understand it correctly.
Exodus 14:21 . . .
"God began making the sea go back by a strong east wind all night long and converting the sea basin into dry ground, and the waters were being split apart."
