I was told to have a lot of carbs the week before I go for a hard tryout...However, I'm not sure what kind of Carbs would be best for giving me the energy I will need. Any suggestions?

Besides the old pasta and bread, you should look for high quality carbs that do not use white flour or are over-processed. Go for brown rice and beans any type as they will supply protein as well as carbs. Look at this site for more info.

Do not fill up on junk carbs i.e. donuts and white bread. You need to fill up on healthy carbs such as pasta. Pasta is long lasting energy, especially if you are running long distances. Wheat bread, potatoes, and rice are good sources for energy. Make sure you use those calories because all of those carbs will turn into fat! Good luck with your tryout!

pasta is the best you can eat for carbs before a hard workout, whole grain breads are really good too...that's why they're typically served together

Pasta and bread. But don't forget to eat fruits and veggies too, they also have carbs.
