However, your each way bet is actually two bets - a win bet and a place bet. 50p each way would have cost you £1.

The win part will pay you 33 times 50p = 16.50 plus the return of your stake making £17.

The place part depends on the number of runners in the race. Odds are usually 1/4th or 1/5th of the corresponding win bet.

If they were 1/4th then the winnings would be 16.50 / 4 = 4.12 plus your stake giving £4.62.

If 1/5th it would be 16.50 / 5 = 3.30 plus 50p giving £3.80.

So your total return would be either £21.62 or £20.80.
