Do these things happen nowadays? Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He gave the disciples the authority to raise the dead.

Are you speaking of raising the dead on earth using prayer, such as with Lazarus? If so, yes.

Years ago, some Christian friends of mine petitioned God for the life of a deceased infant...and the baby came back. Raising of the dead and other miracles still happen every day..most of world is oblivious to these happenings, however. I have experienced and have seen miracles myself.

Daniel 12:2 summarizes the two very different fates facing mankind: “Many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.” Everyone will be raised from the dead, but not everyone will share the same destiny. The New Testament reveals the further detail of separate resurrections for the just and the unjust.

Revelation 20:4-6 mentions a “first resurrection” and identifies those involved as “blessed and holy.” The second death (the lake of fire, Revelation 20:14) has no power over these individuals. The first resurrection, then, is the raising of all believers. It corresponds with Jesus’ teaching of the “resurrection of the just” (Luke 14:14) and the “resurrection of life” (John 5:29).

The first resurrection takes place in various stages. Jesus Christ Himself (the “firstfruits,” 1 Corinthians 15:20), paved the way for the resurrection of all who believe in Him. There was a resurrection of the Jerusalem saints (Matthew 27:52-53) which should be included in our consideration of the first resurrection. Still to come are the resurrection of “the dead in Christ” at the Lord’s return (1 Thessalonians 4:16) and the resurrection of the martyrs at the end of the Tribulation (Revelation 20:4).

Revelation 20:12-13 identifies those comprising the second resurrection as the wicked judged by God prior to being cast into the lake of fire. The second resurrection, then, is the raising of all unbelievers; the second resurrection is connected to the second death. It corresponds with Jesus’ teaching of the “resurrection of damnation” (John 5:29).

The event which divides the first and second resurrections seems to be the millennial kingdom. The last of the righteous are raised to reign “with Christ a thousand years” (Revelation 20:4), but the “rest of the dead [that is, the wicked] lived not again until the thousand years were finished” (Revelation 20:5).

What great rejoicing will attend the first resurrection! What great anguish at the second! What a responsibility we have to share the gospel! “And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire” (Jude 23).

First of all, there's a difference between rising from the dead and resurrection. Doctors can raise the dead, but they don't get their Resurrection bodies.

The Resurrection body is physical, but based more on energy than matter. That's why Jesus could walk through walls, walk on water, AND eat food after He rose. The resurrection body is capable of living in space without a spacesuit, if my guess is corrrect.

Yes I do believe in the resurrection of the physical body. Jesus will resurrect the body at the end days, but if God wills it a dead man could be raised from the grave.

People have been raised from the dead today, but they are really coming back to life in the same old body.

Jesus is the beginning of the 1st resurrection that will be complete when the rest of us who believe in Him, are raised up/ metomorphed just like Jesus in an everlasting body, soul/spirit. As the new everlasting us in Christ. Jesus is the firstborn from the dead.

Yes, I believe the day will come when those who have trusted in Christ will be resurrected from the dead. With God all things are possible. The apostle restored life to people, The Resurrection to me speaks of something that is done by Christ for those who have been in the grave for some time.

Jesus is the resurrection. He resurrected Lazarus strait from the grave. And he said that the seas and the graves will give up their dead. But our bodies will be spiritual in nature. So no one really knows yet.

Yes I do. Did you know all people in every cemetary are facing East? The Bible states that the grave shall give up its dead.. So when He resurrects the dead, they will be facing Him since He is coming back in the Eastern sky...

Correction: "Jesus Christ" is the same, yester day, to day, and for ever. Pst: it's not about "believe"-ing, but "know"-ing. Devils "believe": James 2:19. So "believe not": Mt 24:23,26; 1Jn4:1. Ye shall KNOW the truth...shall make you FREE of believe the lies.

No God, Know Problem.
Know God, No Problem.

He taketh away the first,
that he may establish the second.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Deborah, where is your body as an embryo or as a baby of 1 yr old,or your body of 5 yrs old?
This material body, says the Bhagavad Gita,is constantly dying, meaning the cells are being changed every second,so we are changing body every 7 yrs! This is scientific!
So,when the body is to old,or damaged by accident,God gives us another one....but according to our actions during this lifetime...We can even reincarnate as a dog,a tree!
So,leave aside this misconception of the rotten body coming back to life! What about the one who gets eaten by a shark?or destoyed by fire?[St Joan of Ark]?

Reincarnation was being taught before the year 600 in christianity,Emperor Justin changed it to resurection!
These people thought they can change god's laws of nature!
Christianity has put humanity in ignorance!
