I say wait until you graduate school. That way you can do all your training at one time. (basic/AIT) because sometimes it is harder for a person to get back into shape after having time off after basic, waiting a year to go back and do the AIT thing. OR wait because you don't have to focus on the what ifs of getting deployed etc...and you can focus on your education.

Army Guard or Reserves?
I don't know if you can join the Reg Army as Split Ops like that. But I think Split Ops for Guard and Reserves is awesome. You'll be making $200 in two days while still in HS.
I always believe that if you're destined to join the services, you need to join when you're young. I waited till I was 20 and there are people my age now going up for E-6 and I'm still a freaking E-4. (I just turned 23)
Of course, I also have a buddy who just recruited his DAD. He's 19 and his Dad is 41. His dad is currently in basic training. So, I guess it's never too late. lol.
That's some crazy **** though. How many ppl can say they recruited their dad?

Anyone who is 18 and only in the 10th grade sounds like a basket case to begin with! If I were your CO I would unload you on another unit the first day you arrived in my unit! The Army already has a surplus of dumbasses to go around!

You will need to wait until the summer before your senior year. The DEP is good for one year. Although you are going to be 18 they still can't sign you until you are 364 days out from graduating. Just wait the Army is not going anywhere. Till then just focus on getting done and graduating.

I am a decorated, disabled veteran who advises all young people to stay away from our military right now. Democrats and Republicans alike are abusing the selfless service of our troops. American military members are dying to meet political ends not to protect our nation. Don't let millionaire power-mongers like Bush and Clinton waste your life so they and their friends can line their pockets with more cash.
If you want to serve your country, join your local police force.

You have to have a high school diploma or at least a GED to join the military. Finish school.

Most branches require you to have a high school diploma. Finish high school then join otherwise when you get out you will be screwed because no one will hire you without a high school diploma
