No doubt.
The accent around LA to San Diego makes women sound "nice" to my New Yorker's ear.
We closed a facility in San Marcos and a bunch of workers came East and the women sounded very sweet.
On my first trip to LA I was at the car rental desk and the agent asked me if I was from Ireland. Ireland? I live in the shadow of the Empire State Building and have my entire frickken life. WhattayoutalkingaboutIreland?

If you have a "surfer" accent - then most likely yes. People on the west coast sound a bit more effiminate, pause a bit more between words and phrases and use some other slang.
If an east coast person were to see you in person there would be even more clues by the way you dress and your body language.

it's been said people from the west coast have no real accent. just a rather subtle but flat tone of speaking. i mean i'm sure there's a personality and not monotone but just rather hard to distinguish. even californians...who come over the East coast [ i live in new york city ] say i speak rather fast at times and i pronounce my wording a bit different within friends and a-like. but personally i think new yorkers themselves have accents. not neccessarily ethnic [or sometimes ethnic] but you can tell they're from new york city. for example a guy from india living in brooklyn compared to a guy from india in wisconsin would sound completely different. even if the stereotype is the same

I live on the east coast, but travel to the west coast often, and I don't notice much of a distinctive accent.

Yes, definitely. People from everywhere else have accents that us New Yorkers can pick up on. Actually a lot of people in Manhatten aren't originally from New York, and you can just tell by their accents not necessarily their lifestyle. Southern accents are the worst, I just cringe thinking about them.

There are certain words that are definetly different in an accent between NY and California - Foyer and roof are two of the words that definetly stand out.

Yes. I am from the East coast and some of my family/firends live/grew up on West Coast and I can totally tell they are from Cali since they use the words "hecka" and "hella" a lot. :).

people from each section of the country believe every other section has an accent. I am from New England living in Texas and there is no question where I am from, or the fact that even within Texas there are sectional accents.
Vive la differences.

I live in Oregon and I have cousins in Michigan that think I have an accent. My aunt from Pennsylvania thinks I do, too. I can hear the accent from both my Michigan and Pennsylvanian relatives, too.
