YES! YES! YES!
Forget ALL those answers where people are telling you that it is your internet connection etc. it IS Vonage. I love Vonage but in case anyone hasn't heard they are in a major court battle right now with Verizon over patent infringements. Verizon claims they OWN the patents to internet telephony, how calls are routed from the internet to the traditional phone network etc. A few weeks ago Vonage was ordered to pay $58million in damages to Verizon. About two weeks later, Vonage was ordered to stop signing up NEW customers, but would be allowed to keep their existing customers while this court battle rages on to the appeals level at the Federal court which has a division that specializes in patent infringement cases.
Ok the problem> Vonage has been working on a "work around' to find another way to route calls from the internet to the traditional phone network, i.e. avioding Verizon's claimed "patents" all together.
Today when I go home for lunch, I try to dial out, NO dial tone, just a accented voice saying "This telephone line can not register to the Vonage network". Over and over I get this message. Finally after 10 or so tries, I get a dial tone, phone dials, but call is NOT going through. I DO live in the NorthEast, upstate NY. This problem should and likely will affect ALL Vonage users for some time to come while they work on this "work around". However I was thinking that this is something that you think they would do LATE at night, wee hours of the morning, i.e. OFF Peak calling times, not at 12:00 noon, in the middle of the day. This has been happening on and off now for 2 - 3 weeks, just since the court ruling. Vonage is great, WAS a great ride, but is nearing its final days. They stated a few days ago that if this court battle continues that there will be more service interruptions and possible bankruptcy. FYI, I called my Vonage # from a traditional cell phone and the call does NOT ring into me NOR does it roll over to voice mail.
If you want any info on this just Google > Verizon lawsuit against Vonage, or check their stock ticker >VG and look for related "Headlines" stories............ its been all over the "market" news but surprisingly has not made any national televised, radio or traditional print media.
You can choose to stick it out or start shopping for phone service elsewhere. I would prefer VOIP but SunRocket and Packet 8 claim that they do not use the same call routing features that Vonage does and is supposedly infringing on Verizon patents, but they MUST be. There are only so many ways to handle IP to Phone / landline calling. My guess is that after Verizon kills off Vonage they will be going after the other VOIP companies as well. I will NEVER subscribe to another Verizon landline again! PS, and YES, it has resulted in busy signals as well, I tried to call my Vonage line from work when NO ONE was home (except for 4 cats) and busy busy busy. It did NOT even roll over to vocie mail.

I have had Vonage for about 4 months. AT&T cracked me and I was willing to switch to, two tin cans on a string! Well at times I now think, be careful what you wish for.

PROBLEMS___________________
You still need a phone line, more than likely thru AT&T :(

You MUST ALWAYS have a good connection, ain’t going to happen with AT&T (well at least with me).
611, is always happy to let you know all the problems are in your head, because all their tests showed how wonderful their lines are!

Vonage states they do not have ALL the hidden costs that all the other companies have, but at the end.............You must stay 2 years or you pay them $40.00.

You talk to the Philippines or India almost all of the time, English is an issue!
( Am I back at AT&T )

All the techs. are in India, English is an issue!
When they don't know what to do, because they read you all the pages they had they___________ Tell you they will call you right back, they don't. They just hang up, or they say_____ we are aware of the problems our Engineers are working on them and they should be fixed in a few hours. This is after they have spent about twenty-five mins. reading their pages to you.

Most of the billing issues go thru the Philippines, English is an issue! When you try to pin them to an answer, I have been put on an indefinite hold! I never received the invoices I was told that they were e-mailing as we were speaking?
Funny, I got all of their, tell a friend and extra offers?

Don't FORGET those free calls to The Five Free European Countries ONLY APPLY TO LANDLINES!
Cell phones and Europeans are of one.

The funny thing is when I spoke to them about the charges that was never an issue. I even made comments about the pricing of International calls was in some ways opposite to ours (landlines vs. cell)

In Northern Calif. the clarity is not so good. The delay that someone else wrote about is really a problem. Most people think I am talking on a cell phone. I am guessing other areas do not have a lot of the problems I do, such as weather. There are times that the lines works OK………………?
Most places do not have Vonage phone numbers.

The sad thing is, I think all big business is the same:

HURRAY FOR ME, SCREW YOU!

New company, old problems, modern day way of doing business!

PS……………Check your accounting every month!

It may be, it will work better for you,I hope so if you change.

It's probably not Vonage-related. It's probably your broadband internet routing....the weather in the Northeast has put a strain on the facilities...you may not have the bandwidth available to reach Vonage.

No problems that I have heard of... Check with your ISP. Most likely there is an internet outage affecting your Vonage service.

I play alright with others. MUWAHAHAHAHA the matters I even have been having could be chalked as much as worldwide Warming. you notice, the greater desirable temperature over the final 50 years or so, have been drying up the gene pool. because of the fact that most of the only celled amoeba types have been given caught in shallow little puddles on the outskirts or the pool, that they had no selection yet to adapt via inbreeding. Their one cellular brains have been exceeded right down to their offspring. They trudge alongside under the feet of society unable to have greater desirable than 2 congruent innovations of their heads at one time. And if the undesirable bastards sneeze, properly it truly is it for them. those one celled inbred troglodytes have wormed their way into the anals of yahoo and function been festering like an over-ripe greenish yellow puss crammed maggot ina trash can interior the summertime. definite, we call them trolls, yet i think of my description suits them greater desirable.
