I think this may be a problem that could cause road rage. What do you think?

having worked in one... I gotta tell you. It is a lot easier to deal with a hopped up, detoxing, combatant pain-head through 4 inch thick glass than it is to have them jump the 2 foot counter when they try and kill you because their doctor wont refill their benzo or their opiate because they have taken all of them before a refill is allowed or because their insurance wont pay for them because they are attempting to refill it too soon... BECAUSE THEY ARE ADDICTIVE!

I prefer the glass window... It offers the tech and the RPH a small bit of protection from the addicts. Who CAN and DO get rather angry and tend to kill the messenger rather than admitting they have a problem...

I think it's a good idea because being disabled I don't have to get out of the car and walk into the store. When I'm not feeling well the last thing I want to see is people. People get road rage going through fast food places and I don't see them going anywhere.lol

Drive-through pharmacies are a great idea, that has been in use since the 1960's.

On the way home from the Dr. the sick person, who is feeling lousy is able to stay in their car, resting, and not infecting the other customers with their illness.

For a family, with a sick child, who is really too weak to walk into the store and wait, with violent coughing or vomiting and diarrhea, it is the very best way to watch the child in the car while still able to get the prescribed medication.

How can a drive-thru pharmacy cause road rage?

They are a good idea, they have been around for awhile, and I would have to agree they do give you a feeling of security and safety behind the glass, In large cities and smaller ones, there have been numerous times that the pharmacist and his/her staff have been held at gunpoint for drugs,so it makes it more difficult from the outside.

Most pharmacists/pharm techs hate them with a passion. Most would like to see them go away. They are seen as detrimental to pharmaceutical care, and it puts us on par with McDonalds.

I don't think so, because it rushes the pharmacist. Do you really want somebody rushing a prescription? The pharmacist could make a potentially fatal mistake.
