An extension is just to file, not to pay, so that won't help. File your return and they'll contact you. For a couple weeks late, the fees and penalties shouldn't be a whole lot.

First things first…you need to file an extension. Knowing that you were not going to be able to pay your bill, you should have done that a while ago.

Fees are going to be different from state to state. The fee will be less if you file that extension before your state deadline. Most likely that deadline is today!

You have to file an extension. You actually have until today or tomorrow to file your taxes and/or extensions since the 15th was on a weekend. Don't stress too much. The IRS does understand that not everyone can pay by the 15th...that's why they offer extensions.

You know that today is April 16th..

Call your local H & R Block, use Google Maps if you have to try to find one in your city of Kentucky. H & R Block knows the fees of the state they are running the business in.
