never seen that in the Quran.
It's sunna, meaning the prophet did it, we should do it out of respect, so in other words, it's just "keepin it real".

I don't know ONE Shiite Muslim that has a long beard...I believe this is what the Sunni Muslims do....I know the Shiite Muslims don't grow their beards because they see it as dirty, basically a collecting point for dirt and food...
I have not read anything like that in the Quran...It may be in the Hadiths, but that isn't Gods word....
But...Keep in mind that what the Muslims believe in Saudi, Pakistan, Iraq and India are all completely different....Every Islamic country has seemed to come up with it's own rules considering laws and so on...Even if they base their government around the Quran they are sure to misinterpret every word to suit them...
Pakistan is a Sunni run country...and what the Sunnis believe is quite different to what the Shiite Muslims believe...

I don't where you got the torcher part, but yes, shaving the beard in Islaam is not allowed.
We are commanded by our Prophet to trim our moustaches and let our beards grow. The main reason is to be different from the non-Muslims. The beard is a characteristic of a Muslim man, it's what differentiates a Muslim and a non-Muslim man.

There is clear ruling in Quran that if you follow Muhammad (PBUH) its the same as if you follow Allah and vice versa. Beard is not compulsory but its loved by the Prophet Muhammad. It's not the basis to classify human either muslim or non mulim, however, it measure the fathom of your love for your Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). When you love someone, you definately love everthing which is loved by your love.
Brief benefit of beard are given below:
1. It distinguish the male from female on the face and reduce the inclination to homosex, hense, ultinately preserve womens rights.
2. It add to the sexual power of the male.
3. It keep your face moisted and fresh.
4. It saves your time in daily routine.
The importance of beard shall down to everyone when scientists reach the reasons of hairs on some parts of body.

There is no such rule in Islam that requires U to keep beard. What happen to those male Muslims who are not able to keep beard? Are they considered as Non Muslims?
Keeping beard is encourage in Islam as our beloved Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. did keep beard. However, it is only considered as sunnah - when U keep U get merit and when U don't, there is no sin committed. However, there are few guidelines on how U should keep your beard and mustarch. Among the guidelines U are not allowed to keep your mustarch until it covers your lips and your beard need to be trimmed nicely.

Basically what is happening here is the "asker" of the question is interpreting verses by imposing his own contrived context and by an English version which was translated to support these types of views. The bible does mention extreme drinking and I agree that intoxicants would generally follow, however it never mentions smoking. And most Christians happily accept the use narcotic "intoxicants" if they are prescribed by a board-certified physician. In addition, you would have to be an authorized member of the Leviticus priesthood to give a valid interpretation of the Leviticus text. I doubt the person asking the question qualifies on that count.

actually that is not correct... there is no single verse in the holy Quran says that shaving beard is prohibited in islam. you can check if you want. but our prophet did ask his companians to keep the beards and cut the moustaches short in order to distinguish the muslims from non-muslims. you can check this sayings of the prophet Muhammad from Sahih Bukhari book, Volume 7, Book 72, Hadith # 780. but according to our famous scholar imam shafie, he says that this order is only mandatory for those Muslims during the prophet's period because this is the way to distinguish the muslim from the non muslim because during that time the non muslims like to keep their moustache and shave their beard. although imam shafie said that, he also says that it is heighly recomemended for all muslims to follow this tradition as it is the tradition of the prophet and in Islam, following the prophet's tradition is highly recomended and Allah will give reward to those who follow the prophets tradition... hope you understand my short explaination... cheers

It is a sunnah (example) of the Prophet (pbuh). All prophets of God (pbut) are known to have had beard (including Prophet Jesus (pbuh)). It is not there in the Quraan, but Quraan definitely says "follow the Prophet"

It is not mentioned in the Koran. Beards are a symbol for men and shaving them is an act of imitating women so it is forbidden from the sayings of the Prophet. Every Prophet in he bible/Koran had a beard.
