Should we use animals habitat to get new sources of energy? why or why not?

we need to look to ways of reducing our energy requirements.
Otherwise on a finite planet we will run out of habitat not just for animals but people too.

Already we have destroyed large percentage of habitable land for energy, eg large dams, oil exploration/fuel spills, deforestation, mountain topping & open cast mining...

there is no planet B

We need to find the energy regardless of where it is not that we need to open it now but I think that the Arabs will eventually use oil as a weapon and we need to be able to survive.
