This is an excellent article. It dispells common myths about women in Islam. If you have an open mind and read it, you will see for yourself. Islam is completely different from culture, but sadly, so many "muslim" men who are muslim only in name have taken their very brutal culture and called it Islam, forcing it on women who are kept weak and told they are less so they must let a man control them. I know for a fact Islam does not do this. Is it really hard for some to differentiate between culture and religion? It isn't for me. When I was in Pakistan, I even refused to participate in many of the "traditions" because they were left over from when they were Hindus, and I am not a Hindu, no offense meant to those who are. And the funny thing was, my father in law supported me and nobody said or did anything nor thought about it. I wish people would just open their eyes.

Like I said umphteen times that culture and religion are 2 different things...people got the concept of mixing culture with religion which I guess the root of the real problem
It is too rooted that it is too difficult to be uprooted. The practise of Islam is too beautiful but people messed it with their culture.

Thus different culture brought into the religion had caused the buiding up of radical and extremist.

In my country we are moderate Islam...our culture is such that we are more family oriented. We are not radical or extremist. Our main aim is to built a happy family and with that as a foundation we built a moderate and peaceful Islam.

Also do I wish that this would reach out to ALL women who have remained in bondage of this form of ignorance about their own religion. Mixing culture with Religion will only continue to deprive the society of the much needed peace.

Working with female nurses, they ask questions about women in Islam all the time. After speaking with me, certain attitudes and opinions disappear because they get their information about Islam from the media and not from a Muslim face to face.

This IS the reason there are so many problems. Culture and Religion are two distinct issues. Education and Understanding are needed to overcome some issues.

Hi there,I am a Catholic and I too know that your Muslim faith does not promote this type of violence to yourselves or others,and yes you are correct it is always the extremists in our faiths that bring discredit on everyone else,we too have them in Christianity and so too have the Jews,but what really matters and is so beautiful is that in all our religions there are good and decent people who love God and want no part of hatred and violence.

Unfortunately much of the information people in the US receive about Islam comes from sources who want us to hate Muslims. It makes foolish wars easier to sell if people hate the enemy.

Those who are the enemies of the USA look at this country in the same way. It represents Christianity, although not all are Christians and not all Christians act godly. Same with Islam.

that will never be seen its too reasonable.

Only pain,misery, war etc will be seen because we live in a society where that kind of 'stuff' sells newspapers and attracts viewers.
