That does resemble some of the traits of OCD, but it's definitely not OCD. If you had this disorder, it would make life extremely difficult.
For example, one of my patients in the pharmacy double counts and double counts three maybe four times before he'll take his medication out of the store. I've heard that he does the same with his cigarettes when they're purchased.
Another example of OCD is one of my professor's patients who has to always check things - he'd be considered a "checker." In this situation, this guy was always worried about the coffee pot being left on, so to avoid having to go back and check it all the time, he started taking the coffee machine with him to work.
Therefore, you definitely don't have OCD, and I doubt that it's going to develop any time soon. It's probably just hard for you to clear your mind. I get that way sometimes, especially at night when I'm trying to sleep. As long as it doesn't interfere with your life, particularly sleep, then I don't think you have anything to worry about.

While it could be OCD, usually a lot more signs are present for OCD. This could be a symtpom of anxiety. Try some relaxation techniques and see if it helps. I went through the same phase myself... and spelling words in my head all the time. It did go away.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder? See a doctor. Avoid caffeine & aspartame products (read labels); coffee, chocolate, cocoa, and also tea has it - there is a carob based substitute for chocolate. Herbal tea is OK, and Ecco & Caro, & decaf Pepsi & Coke with sugar. Avoid family rituals.

I recite Pi to 30 digits in my mind a lot for no apparent reason, then in my mind, I'm telling myself to STFU because I'm losing it. Then I end up thinking random lyrics to a song, then I tell myself that song sucks and start thinking of another one.
