Most people eat way too much at a sitting (due to portion sizes at restaurants, or a lack of self-control).

The problem is that you generally don't start to feel full until after you have already eaten more than necessary.

By splitting up what you eat into six small meals, you don't gorge yourself three times (or more) a day. Instead, you eat a sensible amount of food (hopefully), and feel full all day, instead of swinging between starving and stuffed.

I don't do it myself - in fact, I pretty much ignore what I eat. I try to eat somewhat healthy, and not overdo it, but I hold to theory that you can pretty much eat whatever you want (within reason), as long as you work out consistently.

Yes it is better to have 6 small meals per day than three larger meals.

We are, by nature, browsing animals and browsing animals eat small amounts frequently.

This ensures that metabalism is maintained at a desirable level and that a constant supply of energy is available throughout the day compared to the highs and lows experienced when larger, less frequent meals are consumed.

Eating this way reduces fatigue.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

Your insulin will not spike as bad and store so much excess calories as bodyfat. Plus, your cravings will fade because you are eating every 2-3 hours.

Each meal should be a portion of protein and carbs about the size of a deck of cards or your palm. If you add any fats, make it from olive oil or safflower oil (canola is okay too).

It's better to eat smaller meals throughout the day since your body will digest the food faster, which reduces weight gain from smaller calorie intake.

Yes, it's been proven that many small meals a day contributes to weight loss. You don't eat as much and your body has more time to burn what you do eat if eaten smaller and more often...

Absolutely true. The reason why it works is because your body is constantly burning energy. You can keep your metabolisim going if you snack between meals and eat smaller portions.

Yes because it helps keep your metabolism up which is what burns fat and calories. If you are on a 1600 calorie diet than break your calories down into 6 meals.

Breakfast: 400
Snack: 100
Dinner: 300
Snack: 200
Supper: 400
Snack: 200
