When it has done wonders in Delhi and Calcutta it will definitely be of a great help to Bangalore_a Growing Metro...i may not be wrong if i say the already crowed city . it will help to reduce traffic when it reduce the time of travel compared to road who will be ready to get their two wheelers and car out to road....second reduction in traffic will reduce motor exhaust there by pollution ...

Metro rail is the only solution to easy the traffic.Delhi Metro Rail is the proved example of that. The office commuters who were hesitant to use the bus earlier have started using the Metro because of the ease ,safety, speed and of course the nice ambience inside the train that it provides.Due to which the car space on the roads have been reduced to a great extent ,thus easing the traffic.If we take Bangalore then it is the Silicon valley of India, jam packed with corporate offices.Most of the employees are using the cars and two wheelers, occupying the major chunk of space on the road,causing the traffic probelm. So Metro will be a good solution for that.Once started in the bangalore,it can also be extended to the other cities that are facing the same traffic problem, it will definitely be successful.

I dont think it is going to work in Bangalore or for that matter anywhere in India. Coming to the traffic problem in Bangalore, I dont think it is very much. It has been made to look much. Like the one we are seeing everywhere. Why should any vehicle go all around the place and covering all the roads when there are shortest routes i mean roads to reach the particular destination. I move in trafic everday for about 3 hrs from Office to Home and Back. And i have been observing this for a long time. I appreciate the wide roads here but the Traffic System is the worst. When there are so many wide roads in Bangalore why to have one-ways all the way. Every road is a widish road and it is a one-way. All the time the roads will be empty only for about half the time it will be full. Instead of having one-ways I suggest to remove all the one-ways and see whether it works or not. Make all the roads two-way so that all the roads will be properly used. Half of the time some roads are not used at all. Also, waiting at the signals for our turn is pathetic. Why should one wait for 3 minutes at every other signal. Instead if we have a time stamp of only 1 minute for every signal it makes the frustration of the people less and also reduces the waiting time of the vehicles at the signals. Every vehicle will be moving around very fast without waiting too long and getting frustrated at the signals. One more thing, do people dont have traffic sense or they cant see the traffic coming. Then in that case why cant we remove all the NO FREE LEFT TURN Boards. Keep free left turns so that the vehicles which have to go left dont have to wait and the others coming behind can move freely. I think by doing this we can reduce the traffic problem in Bangalore but definitely the METRO System will not work. How many people will travel in a metro rail. Only people who go far distances will use it. They cant replace the buses. They will definitely reduce the commuters travelling in buses but not for short distances. Also, all the way people have to walk IN to the metro station from outside the roads and they have to walk back to their destination which will take considerable amount of time. This is my opinion, just think!!

Metro is a best underground transport system which will help us to reach destination without the hassel of any traffic jam. As Bangalore is studded with heavy traffic metro is a best solution to ease traffic.
This should work in any metro cities as this will not be having the influence of surface transport.
I started my career in Calcutta and had witnessed the intial introduction of metro system there. Once I was travelling through buses or mini-buses there was no guarantee that I would be reaching office well before its start since we could reach in time only if the traffic is less but that situation completely changed after the introduction of metro rail. It will take just 7 minutes to reach Esplande from Lake Market ( south Calcutta ) where as I reported office late even if I started 1-1/2 hours earlier than beginning of office hour. So this could be called a remarakble transformation after the introduction of Metro.
If the difference that created in a Metro like calcutta is so remarkable it should create a revolution in easing the traffic of any metro cities, why only Bangalore.

Metro in Delhi is an example which should be considered before rampaging on all the 150-200 and even more years older trees to make metro path. As per statistics the metro rail in delhi has eased only 30-35% of the traffic problems. Metro rail might help in easing the traffic problems only if proper planning is done as to what is the traffic rate b/w various places??. What is the the profile of people travelling e.g Will a CEO of a company travel by metro??. Is there enough space for a station or will that just add to the congestion and unnecessary slaughter of the greenery ??.
In Delhi it did'nt prove to be a success because of the status quo attached to it and in the same context it might not work in B'lore either, but would definitely be a success in U.P, Bihar, or even Calcutta and Chennai.

Right now I am in NY, Financial Capital of world. Major part of this credit goes to metro rail If it works in New York there is no reason why it wont work in Bangalore. Metro rail is fastest and safest way of commuting. If applied in Bangalore it is surely going save a huge amount of man hours Think you are out of the Electronic City or ITPL in less than a half of time which you are spending on the road right now. you can find the difference in the growth right from the time it has been started. Government need not have worry about the money invested in the project it will in turn gain in many other ways if city grows automatically revenue would grow and it is a good deal.

As of now, no one can tell if metro rail will ease traffic in bangalore or not, but government has taken up the project with positive hopes.
It will easy traffic on roads if they plan properly to save our time with frequents trains.
If the planning is good, metro rail will surely work for any city.

The Metro Rail has a three pronged benefit:
1. Reduce travel time between key determinant sectors, and thereby reduce congestion on those routes, and minimise the resultant pollution which spews out in all its elements.
2. It will be professionally run, so there won't be labour-related disruptions in service.
3. More importantly,assuming there is a high, lower and lowest segment of commuter, the lower segment which uses public transport , will migrate to the slightly costlier Metro service. These commuters will learn the finer arts of cleanliness and hygiene, as Metro stations are state-of the-art.
Likewise, the lowest segment will occasionally use the Metro and benefit from irs ambience and efficiency.
Yes, buses and trains will be less congested . Everybody will have breathing space. Auto-rickshaws and Taxis which ruled the demand side of middle and higher segment commuters will respond to the supply gap created by the Metro and become more customer-friendly.
The Metro is suitable only in Metros and not in all cities. Metro rail is useful for cross-city travel with minimised pollution and collateral social benefits.

Metro as the word is indicates is a long trusted Mass Rapid Transit System used in metropolitan cities across the world. Indian cities due to there old architecture are more prone to traffic congestions and with the booming economy and exponentially increasing number of vehicles in our major cities the need of metro like public transport system increases dramatically.
Bangalore's public transport is not able to cater to the sheer size of migrants from all over the country to be a part of Bangalore's booming IT industry. Total length of Bangalore metro is divided into Phase 1 & 2 totaling 50 km. It will connect the two technology hubs of Electronic city and International Tech Park in Whitefield. Once completed it will drastically reduce the time taken to travel during peak hours. As the city expands horizontally to suburbs it underscores the importance of a good metro service connecting far fledged areas to the main city center.
Other metropolitan cities with population more than 10 million can definitely opt for metro as MRTS. However proper planning is must and that includes stations in key areas and timing and frequency of the metro

Initially two-wheelers will start using metro train. Once that is reduced then obviously 30% of the traffic will reduce. This also reduces road accidents drastically, since they are also a reason for traffic jams. If the metros are advanced with first class, A/C etc. then even small car goers also can be pulled into the metro trains. If you ask me whether I will start using metro or not? then I say answer yes only. Implemeting the same in other cities depends on the development of the city. At the initial stage only if we start fixing train in the developing cities then people will start using the same and get used to it. So starting only we can reduce the traffic.
