Not likely. What are the odds that thousands of people over thousands of years were able to work collectively to produce a book that would only accidentally dictate the beliefs of Evangelical Christians in the 19th century? What would be the gain in that? Before the 19th century, and even now in traditional denominations, the Bible is always subjected to traditional interpretations. If it was a con, it was one of the most dismal failures in the history of man - rather than dictating beliefs, it spawned millions of personal interpretations.
Of course, if you have only been exposed to one narrow denominational paradigm that claims to be derived exclusively from the Bible (a false claim, by the way), then I can see how you might suspect a con job. You have been conned, but not by the Bible.

0%If the Bible really is from God, we should expect it to be the most outstanding book ever written. Is it? Yes, and for many reasons. First, it is very old; you would not expect God's Word to all mankind to have been written a short time ago, would you? The writing of it began some3,500 years agoin the Hebrew Language. Then over 2.200 years ago, it began to be translated into other languages. Today almost everybody on earth can reado no other book comes close to the Bible in the number of copies are produced. Yet yet every year many millions of Bibles are printed. And over the centuries thousands of millions have been made! There is hardly a place on earth, regardless of how isolatedit may be, where you cannot find a Bible. Is this not what you would expect of a book that is really from God?
What makes this great distributionof the Bible even more outstanding is the fact that enemies have tried to destroy it. But should we not expect that a book from God would come under attack by agents of the Devil? This has happened. Bible burnings once were common, and those who were caught reading the Bible were often punished with death.
You would expect a book from God to discuss important matters that all of us should want to know."Where did life come from?" "Why are we here?" "What will the future bring?" are some of the questions it answers. And it plainly says that the information that it contins is from Jehovah God. One Bible writer said: "The Spirit of Jehovah is what spoke to me, and his word was upon my tongue,"(2Samuel23:2) Another wrote:"All scripture is inspired of God."(2Timothy3:16). Since the Bible so definately states that it is the Word of God, would it not be wise to examine it to see if it is?
'Yet how how could the Bible be from God when it was written by men?'you may ask. True, about40 men shared in writing the Bible. These men did the actual writing of the Bible with the exception of the Ten Commandments, which were written personally bu God on stone tablets by direct action of his holyspirit.(Exidus31:18) However, this does not make what they wrote any less the Word of God. The Bible explains:"Men spoke from God as they were borne along by holy spirit."(2Peter1:21) Yes just as God used his powerful holy spirit to create the heavens, the earth and all living things, he also used it to direct the writing of the Bible. This means that the Bible has only one author, Jehovah God.

you mean whats the chance you will be eternally dammed.
If you prehaps put as much effort into disproving the bible into learning it. You might see things a little different. The world is a horribly corrupt fallen place. If you like to put your hope in this as the be all end all. then you are in a sadder situation than me. that is if it is all a big lie.- test both sides of a situation. I came from your side, now try mine.- oh by the way huffy b is wrong. his first argument about the scripture in 1 samuel is talking about the dry lands of the earth not the stucture of it in the universe, it also mentions about the earths foundation in Job 9.6, 38.6 Ps 75.3 104.5 Zec 12.1

i think that there is a 10000000000000% chance that the bible is a con. judging by it was written after Jesus died and Jesus was a Jew. which shows that christianity is a fake made up religion. Jesus also said that he did not come to change what came before him, but to uphold the past. so the Bible would be irrelevant, because he didn't bring anything new. and it was written after he was killed and by his enemies i.e. Paul, Saul whatever he's called. he was his enemy all throughtout Jesus' life which means that he should not be believed.

Ever see that puzzle called the Devil's puzzle.. it's a two sided jigsaw puzzle the bible is written that way

None. When was the last time you wrote something down that was fully literate and concerned big questions? Did you just do it to fool people or were you honestly representing your thoughts at that moment? The author is part of the picture. The physiological processes that accompany writing are part of the picture, as Galatians 6:11 shows.

i think the bible is a big con because: 1. it took hundreds of years for it to be "written" (referring to the council of nice); 2. the majority of what we have to day wasn't written by jesus---was written by paul who was an avowed enemy of jesus; 3.each story, especially stories about battles, are retold throughout with each version getting grander than the previous one; 4. jesus didn't write any of it; 5. none of jesus' close companions wrote/maintained daily diaries if you will detailing the exact spoken word or action of jesus. if you can get gloss over all of these facts how do you explain the fact that jesus was a jew, as he said repeatedly; remember the story from when he was a boy of 10 or 12 years and his parents thought that they'd lost him? where was he found? he said that they should've known that he was in his father's (metaphorically speaking) house teaching and learning with the temple priest. he didn't teach some new religion he simply reminded the temple priests of their responsibility to teach the people the truth of their law ---the mosaic law; to teach the people from the book---the talmud; of their responsibility to protect the poor, homeless, down-trodden; he taught that we should shun the wrong-doers but should extend the wing of compassion and mercy upon them........ none of this was new it was, is, and always will be JUDAISM in its pure and simple unadulterated form.

I'd say the bible is a 100% con.
But that is not to say god is a con, the bible is merely a way to explain god and heaven to not very wise people.
It is not a con to hurt but, I would advise that nothing within it's hallow pages should be taken for fact or solid truth....
Good luck with yee quest.
Ciao!!!

100% that the Bible is wrong about the earth being flat & standing on pillars (Samual1-Ch2v8 )
100 % that the Bible is wrong about man being created from dust 6,000 years ago.
100% wrong that unicorns ,talking bushes--talking snakes--a world-wide flood ever happened--It's a book of myths that are continually being exposed for the lies & myths they are.
