My shower broke some time ago and I have been advised that my house needs re-wiring before it can be done. I don't have the money to do it. Is it possible I was told this so the contractor can make money out of me. I have not had a second opinon and am desperate for a shower as bath's take too long to run and I don't feel refreshed in the morning afterwards. They are okay if you want to relax though.

Your house may well need rewired, but it should still be possible to safely install an electric shower on its own circuit without carrying out a complete rewire at the same time. Try another contractor.

Re-wiring needs done every 15 to 20 years approx., it is expensive and disruptive but well reduces the risk of a fire in your home. Get a second opinion, this might help you reduce the price if the plumbers are work hungry.

Your shower can be replaced without re-wiring but plumber might not want to be associated with the risk of using old wiring, feel free to e-mail me for more info

No need to rewire the House. Only if you have mice in the house that may cause the wire to open up. It will cost you more money to get a second opinion and if you do, find a Congi plumber. Most time Congi are better but much more money.

No way do you need to rewire your house for plumbing love, it is a scam.

Beeing in the trade for a few years now I would never consider this before fixing a shower, I would go else where

Why were you told your house needs re-wired? Does the wiring run next to the plumbing? And why do you need the whole house done and not just the bathroom? I think a second opinion wouldn't hurt anything.
