DirecTV installers are generally paid by performance which is piece work not to be confused with commission which is generated by a sale. An installer is not personally engaged in the course of the sale and therey receives no commission. If my memory serves me correctly they receive something like $50-$75 per completed installation, which can probably equate to as much as $225/day. It is important to note however that these are generally Independent Contractor positions and as such you will be responsible for your own taxes, including a self employment tax which isn't cheap so be sure to watch out for all of your deductions and plan according as they will probably not with hold taxes. I am not however giving tax advice nor financial advice and would strongly recomend that you consult an accountant if you have any questions of that nature. On another note if working on a sales commission structure is something that interest you I own several companies who are hiring sales positions at the moment with excellent commission structures and would welcome you to apply for one of these positions if you feel it may suit you. One of these companies just expanded and has positions available in more than 450 metro areas in the US. Hope this was of some help,

RE:
Tipping for DirecTv Installer?
I'm getting DirecTv installed this Friday and wonder if it is a norm to tip the installer when he/she is done? If so, how much? Thanks!

tipping the installer is always nice I am a installer and I will give you a professional install I will do what you ask of me and trust me we hardly ever get a tip its a tough job we don't make a lot of money and its always nice to get a ten or 20 dollar tip but we rarely get tipped for a job well done so I think tips should always be considered when someone goes above and beyond for there customers thanks

dont know about direct TV installer.. but tipping the cable guy is norm....only if they install it neatly and the way you want it.. and if the stay and give you an education on how to work it and sure you are comfortable with it.. if they just do the job 10 bucks... but if he goes out of his way to hide the cables and spend 20 - 40 minutes explaining it to you proabley 20 bucks if there are 2 then 15 each hope this helps

No, you do not tip them. You can offer them something to drink or eat and they will probably like that.
