Getting a tattoo feels like when you get scratched by a cat plus a sunburn at the same time. Take that sensation and it's like that while the tattoo gun is against your skin the whole time. Twice as intense when you're getting shading done. aferwards it feels like a bad sunburn with a bruise underneath.
It will be more intense wherever you have more nerve endings close to your skin. Some areas on your body naturally have more nerve endings than others regardless of where a bone is located (such as genitals, underarms, inner thighs, behind your knees, on the neck). But the reason it is more intense when you have skin close to bone is the nerve endings have no cushion of flesh to well..cushion the feeling.
For the areas you asked about the lower back is usually reported to hurt much more than the upper arm and shoulder area. The upper arm on the outside is one of the most popular places that people get tattoos for a reason, it is the area that hurts the least for most people.
But of course everyone is different and you wont know until you get yours.
Happy tatting!!!

You have to expect some degree of discomfort. Everyone feels pain differently. However, I found that the shoulder blade didn't hurt at all. The hip will hurt a little bit, because of the bone & a lot of nerves in that area! The lower back doesn't hurt a bit, why do you think every third girl you see has their tat there?

Having a tatt done on any place on the body is bound to hurt. A tattoo design is engraved onto your body via rapid projections of the tattoo needle, which deposits the ink about 2mm into your skin. While the alcohol on the design patch used to mark the design onto your skin before the actual tattooing helps to numb the area, if you're afraid of pain, try taking a some painkillers at least 1/2 hr before the procedure.

Of course but I think you can take it. Areas where the bones are, that's where the tattoos hurt more than those on the other fleshy areas.

Any tattoo will hurt a bit... No getting around this... You can get a local pain killer etc... The kind you put on your gums for a gum sore... thet may help a bit...that may help a bit - but YOU WILL FEEL IT!...
