I think about 2 liters of water is needed for humans to stay healthy. Normally, we say at least 8 glasses per day.
1 glass = 240 ml
8 glasses = 240 x 8 = 1920 ml, say 2 liters.
The same question was raised before and the answer was:
Men --- 3.3 liters per day
Women --- 2.2 liters per day

Another site says you don't need to drink eight (or is it ten?) glasses of water to replace what you lose through evaporation and urination.

1/2 ounce per pound is recommended. Every single cell in your body requires water to function properly. All beverages other than alcohol count towards the total but plain water is the best.

It isn't measurable. Every person is different. If you are thirsty drink, don't over drink though...Drinking too much can be just as bad as not enough.
