Yes, I often wondered if Jesus wanted to be treated like a God, or if he just wanted us to follow in his footsteps.

I'm raising my kids that Jesus was a "positive example", and that we should try to live like he would want us to.

But if he "wanted" to be treated like a God, then that is Vanity, and Vanity is a sin.

OK I don't know what hoo haa is but if you're talking about worshipping him, He loves it. He is God and God loves being worshipped.
If you're talking about worshipping idols, He doesn't like it cause the Bible says so already. Idolatry is something that god hates so much.

No. Jesus doesn't matter to me so why should I? I have much more important things to think about. Like whether I should play Everquest tonight or not, or if I should go grab some yogurt to eat even though I just had a salad.

Yes, I think there is a LOT about Christianity that he'd be horrified at.

And sure, I live in the USA. He's everywhere on bumperstickers, roadsigns, sides of houses. He's hard not to think about.

He doesn't need us to worship Him, WE need to worship Him, so that He can take our lives and make us better people than we could ever be on our own. He does this only when we invite Him into our hearts, and He does it because of His complete and eternal love for us.

This is you profile introduction which raises questions for me about what motivates you to continue to come to this site with no good or beneficial motive. "About me: was on yahoo and found this website.... is this the biggest waste of time or what!!??"
Why waste your time and effort to make Q/A entries when this is your opinion of Religion and Spirituality web site.

I think he would see people worship him but not live by what he taught. I think he would say, "OK, forget me. Just love thy neighbor for Dad's sake."

God gives us the great gift of Jesus and we inturn want to give him it back. That is what Catholics do when we recieve the Eucharist. We are recieving Jesus himself and we are saying "Amen," and giving ourselves to him. It is the ultimate union with Christ. God Bless!
