I never really thought of it. They reminded me of the Odd Couple, I loved that show, and I thought Bert and Earnie were like them except they were puppets.

I believe it because it pleases me to do so. They were fun and carefree, leave it that way. Don't over analyze something light and fun into something that is sick and impossible anyway. Get a job or something.
