I would say that is normal. My son just turned 3 last Monday and he knew his numbers up to 10 by age 2 and now is up to 20. He also new his abc by then and can sing the hole song. Along with many other songs, and books. He is also fully potty trained, even through the night. I dont think thats advanced, I would say average.

My daughter is advanced and there are many things you can do to encourage this more. Reading is a great way to open many new ideas to your child. We read all the time, all day, my DD loves books and it is a great way to spend time together. Specifically, at bed time we read five books. Each week we drop the oldest one and add a new one that stays in the rotation for five weeks. Then after we are done reading those, the girls lay down in bed, the night light comes on and we read out of a chapter book, right now we are on Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. Just a chapter a night. The girls love it.

Reading is the best suggestion I can give.

We all think our children are smarter than average, but a 34-month-old is almost a 3-year-old, and most children can count to 10 & know the alphabet before they are 3 years old. The big thing is - is he fully potty trained? That's a true milestone for most 3-yo's.

You do nothing, except pro-actively encourage brain development. It sounds as though your child has an excellent long-term memory and is able to repeat these things from memory. While I'll agree that it's great that this part of her brain works, it's not exceptional. My son was reading "early reader" books at your child's age. However, he has large and fine motor development issues. While he's gifted in the literary arts, he has other areas to work on. This is only a further indication of the truly different paths to development present in early childhood.

Read to them every night. Children like stories and do not mind repetition. They also love the sound of their parent voice. Early readers can read at around age 3. But each child is unique, some are faster and some prefer to take their time. Both are fine.

I'd say it's average. My cousin knew the alphabet before 24 months and could count 1-10 in English & Spanish.

Seems pretty normal to me. Both my kids knew all that by that age. In fact my oldest knew all that by 2.5. She could receit the entire "Bunny's Noisy Book" book without missing a beat. Back then I was pretty impressed, now at six, she seems pretty normal. She is a good reader though for her age (according to her Kindergarten teacher).

You say "Hot, damn!" and encourage brain development while not smothering them with the prospect of college by the time they're fourteen. The most important thing for a child to be is a child, and as long as you remember that, you should be fine. :D

That is reasonably smart but I dont think excessively. I wouldnt worry about checking to see if she is gifted or anything like that yet. Just enjoy her and let her have fun, plenty of time to worry about whether she is gifted or not later. If she loves to learn though, by all means encourage her and teach her as long as she is enjoying it.
