No. The first precept is to abstain from harming or killing living beings. Many Buddhists are vegetarians but the Buddha did not prohibit the eating of meat. He allowed his early followers to eat meat providing the animal had not been specifically killed for them to eat. It is said that the Buddha died of food poisoning after eating contaminated pork. Some Buddhists therefore do eat meat but quite a debate exists within the Buddhist community about whether such practice breaks the first precept at least indirectly

All that you need to disprove that Buddhists are not allowed to eat pork is to go to any restaurant owned by Chinese or Thais. Many will have Pork on the menu and Buddha somewhere in the restaurant. This is true everyplace I've been in the world. That includes Hong Kong and the Mainland as well as several other Asian Countries.

Most of Buddhism has no rules like that. There also is no belief system. However there are some places where that is not true, and someone has assumed this authority to tell people what to do and what to eat. Usually though, of those that have such rules, it is about whether or not to eat meat at all, not about which meat is or is not ok. Most Buddhists eat most anything, while some are vegetarians.

No, that is not a rule in their belief system. Although, some groups of Buddhists will not eat any animal, because they don't believe in killing animals. They respect all life forms. That doesn't seem to make too much sense to me, because plants are life forms. They eat plants. Washing your hands with soap kills bacteria. To each his own, though. If they want to be vegetarians, that means more steak and lobster for me.

a lot of buddhists are vegetarian, most devout buddhists at least. the idea being that everything has equal weight of soul, all being part of a greater soul, so to step on an ant is to hurt yourself, or to kill a pig, cow, etc.
it is not an idea that most buddhists i have known to push upon others however, which is good, because i love bacon and buddhists.

Basically, from what I understand, although I'm struggling to find info on it, the Buddhist principles basically guide them away from eating any part of an animal, which I guess would make them vegetarian, of sorts.

Bhagwan Buddh was against killing of all living birds, animals, sea animals, insects for food.
Bhagwan Buddh was not a Buddhist.
There is a story, that one day a monk of Bhagwan Buddh was returning from his alms round and by accident a dead pray of the flying Bird(kite) fell in to the bowl of that monk, he was confused ,since it was told by Bhagwan Buddh that what ever is givenin the bowl one has to consume, so he went to Bhagwan Buddh and told the story, Bhagwan thought & said that it is exceptionl case, so Bhagwan Buddh said to that monk that you have not killed the pray and this is an exceptionl case daily this is not going to happen since it is an accident, so you can consume the food in your bowl.
But the exception became a rule and all the Buddhits became non -vegetarians.

relies upon on the denomination. lots of the 'severe-church' denominations (Catholics, Orthodox, Lutherans, Anglicans, and so on...) nonetheless shop on with rules approximately abstaining from the eating of meat on fridays in lent (fish are superb). yet previous that, no, no authentic nutritional rules. exceptionally plenty all Christians finally end up against abortion, a minimum of formally. Divorce... nicely, no one *likes* divorce, yet back it falls alongside denominational lines. The catholic and orthodox are very strict approximately divorce and view it an extremely enormous concern. different denominatons... do no longer likely look to care.
