The bible, as well as most religious tomes, is a scource of common sense to people that don't have common sense. A lot of practices that were done in anciet times had to do with sanitation and health principles, but if you told a stinky populace to take a bath, some would some wouldn't. If you said instead bathe or god will punish you, almost all would go bathe.
Religon was used as a scare tactic as well as a morality standard back when laws were almost non-exsistant. The main reason pigs aren't to be eaten is back in anciet times they were walking sewers, living off the filth of man and beast, making their flesh toxic. So a law was made in religon condemning the action of eating the animal.
It is likely there was some shrimp that made people sick when the law was made about them, and equally plausible that there was some common form of STD roaming around that was transmitted through anal contact, hence a law made about that practice as well.
I am positive that god will favor a shrimp eating, homosexual that help the common man out in any way he can, over a straight, non-shrimp eating rapist.

Because most Christians don't actually read the bible. They believe what they want and do what they want.It has nothing to do with what the bible says, if a christian doesn't like Homo's,but love shrimp they will condemn homo's while eating shrimp. They don't care what the bible says. This isn't a exact quote, but some where in the bible it says something like ''Do not eat the flesh of swine''.Which means pork....How many people do you know that claim to be christian and still eat pork?My whole family is christian and they all eat the same meat come breakfast time....pork weather it be sausage, bacon, pork chops, etc etc

Peter had a vision, described in the Acts, which allows believers to eat all things. Paul reaffirmed the condemnation of homosexual acts.
Mmmm gonna have some bacon wrapped shrimp now.

I believe that the bible is still true & God will judge us accordingly, to what he finds in our heart. His word is to teach us where & when we start & stop, SOmetimes, though he will place something in it which will stop something of the past ie circumcision of boys, Galations is basically a big letter to let the Galations know (& the rest of the world know) that some things are no-longer needed because Christ dying on the cross was what was & is still needed, not the joy people feel at circumcising a child/new christian.
Another example is sacrificng lambs/animals that all went out the window, because Jesus died for that reason and God will accept nothing less then the blood of Christ for Sanctification.

as far as I understand we are not the people for whom the law was written.... do you also follow the adamic law? how about Hittite law? Shiite law? how about Australian law?
It seems to me that there is a call for modern day Revelation or at least Revelation later (closer to our times)than old testament law. Did Jesus not say I come not to destroy the law but to fulfil it?
Diet and sexual preferences have been scriptural referenced several times since the old testament.
we understand your pain....we don't share your opinion or your decisions. I personally don't care if you eat shrimp or are of the limp wristed persuasion. Just don't try to change my religion because you feel guilty you don't follow our teachings. live and let live eh? Hey if the bible doesn't work for you go with a book which doesn't dis seafood....

i should think someone would be up for reasonable discourse on the issue. i think it is a good topic.
i would think it would have to do with an argument of weight or gravity. the argument being that what people do in their bedrooms is more on the mind of god than what we eat. why? i don't know.
what i do know, is that it is dangerous for a lot of christians to truly dive into the murkiness of the christian philosophy. a fear that such questions give the "devil a foothold" prevents reasonable query. not all christians are like this, just a lot of the ones with the largest megaphones.
really, shrimp tastes better than homosexual intercourse, especially with garlic and butter.

God had very good reasons for all the laws He gave at the time He gave them.
I once got a nasty case of trichinosis from some bad pork when I was very young...nearly died of it. Since then, I have paid alot more attention to those dietary laws, I can promise you. We don't have pork at my house too often, and when we do, we are VERY careful to cook it thoroughly, and we do not keep any leftovers. Some say that the dietary laws don't apply to us today, but I believe in the safe not sorry rule.
Do you have any idea what bad shrimp can do to you?
Aren't you glad you live in the days of refrigeration?

The Old Testament was written by ancient people and it must be understood under that context. He sent a new one but it's getting past its validity. I hope God give us another one soon and that it doesn't include so much hate and prejudice.
Wait, because Version 3.0 should be coming soon and it will be much more tolerant. It should still come along with a tutorial and the Bible for Dummies book.

its because God sent Jesus as a new covenant that broke the old covenant so people didn't have to go through all the laws and traditions of the old testament to get to God, they only had to go through Jesus. Homosexual activity is discussed later on in the Bible and since God used His disciples to convey His word it is every bit the same if Peter, Paul, or John or whoever says it as if it was spoken by God. At least that's the argument... I wonder why it matters though, people are entitled to their own opinions and reasons to agree or not agree with being gay.

Great point!
So glad that ya brought that up! I've always felt bad for shaving my head! Isn't that in Leviticus?
I still think that Leviticus is a good book, though.
