Why don't hotels get good shower pressure?

No matter where you go or how nice the hotel, you can never get a good shower, most of them are little more than a trickle. I love traveling, but the showers always make me want to be home again. Most people don't spend much time in their hotel room when traveling, it's basically just to have a bed to sleep in, and a quick shower. So for what you pay for a room, one would think they could do something about it. I live in an apt. complex and get great shower pressure.

I think in a hotel the water goes through so many rooms, and so many people are constantly using the water that it decreases the pressure. Also, they are probably too cheap to get the really good shower heads.

Water pressure is a function of gallons per minute in and gallons per minute out as well as pipe size. If everyone in the hotel is taking a shower at the same time, then pressure will go to near zero. Normally their is a certain percentage of people who will be using the water supply at one given point in time. The more the water is being used the lower the pressure.

You get low shower pressure in many hotels for one of two reasons, depending on the hotel.

#1 they want you to use less water so they save water(believe it or not, some people in hotels take hour long showers)

#2 some very high hotels have problems pumping water up to the height of top floors, especially when many people are using the showers.

Water can get really expensive especially with electricity continuousy being used.
To cut down on the water bills hotels will limit the pressure to each hotel room, hence saving money.
