I hear these ads on the radio and see them on tv but do not know of anyone who has really done this. If you have, please let me know and if they really help you or if it is a scam.

Low-interest cards ? May be good, for a few months, to help reduce your payments.

The ads sound like a scam. I would be very careful.
You can go to bbb.org, and see if therea re complaints about the companies.

It doesn't sound like something one should get involved with.

A friend used: DebtXs.com
and was very happy.

They assign a Credit Counselor to you so you never have to speak with the credit card companies.

They do all of the talking and negotiating payment arrangements with the companies you owe money.

I know someone who went to Consumer Credit Counselling - they seem to be on the level, although many of the ads you see are scams. Her interest rates were cut way back, but she had to cut up her credit cards while she was paying off what was left.
