The phone number for the court house should be on the back of your summons, call the number and ask the clerk if your state allows guilty waivers. In some states you do not have to appear in court for your first offense and can pay by mail.

If you plead not guilty, you will have a new court date.

Don't pay it before you go to court - what's the point of going to court then? When you pay it, you're entering a guilty plea.

If you go to court and plead guilty, they will sentence you. Generally, it will be a fine + court costs. The judge will then give you a specific amount of time in which to pay the fine. Usually, this is 60 or 90 days. You will not be expected to pay the day of. If you don't get it paid in time, you will have a warrant for your arrest.

Your best bet is to go to court early and pay the fine first. You should've done that before tomorrow. If you go to court first they will make you pay court fees as well, and it will be a lot higher. If you pay it off ahead of time then they don't assess court fees or require you to appear. You pay it at the circuit clerk's office in the courthouse. They can give you a payment plan, but they will still make you pay court fees and you will end up paying a lot more than the ticket. They may also put you on court supervision with a payment plan as well.

Dont offer to pay it right away. Fight the ticket. Explain what happened and say you were going with the flow of traffic or something. They may reduce or throw out the ticket. They will then send you a new ticket in the mail and you can pay check or money order.

All that depends on where you are from. Up here (MA) if you admit guilt and wish to pay the ticket and not fight it, you simply mail in a check with a copy of the ticket and that's it, up here court is only if you dispute the ticket.
