You were 'talking" to a guy...you haven't had the chance to see each other for a few days. He sent you a text that said, "Hey, just wanted to say goodnight. Good luck on your exam tomorrow and let me know how it goes. Hopefully I can see you sometime this week :o)"
We have seen each other a couple of times socially, stayed the night together once (no sex, just a nice night together), talked on the phone and texted a lot.
Would a text like that be too much? Like saying I hope I can see you sometime this week. I know people can get a little freaked out if they think someone is moving too quick.
I am going to ask her out on a more formal date, sometime this week.

Great answers everyone. I just wanted to add that she had an athletic event today, and then had to study for an exam. So after I watched her event, I sent a message that said congrats on your win and you were awesome out there.
She sent a few messages back, then I just eased up and let her enjoy the rest of her day/study...etc.
I was going to bed, so I just said a quick hello, goonight, and to let me know how her exam goes.
She messaged back and said she was studying hard and said thanks, I think I need your luck for the test (because she won her event today as well). She said sweet dreams and goodnight, and that she will let me know when she is done with her exam.
That is when I sent one back that said you will do great on your exam, hopefully I can see you sometime this week, and goodnight again.

Heres a story. I am talking to an ex again. and the break up was dirty. but were talking again getting to know each other and gaining trust again. Last night he texted me saying " good night babe. I hope you have a good day at work tomorrow. I cant wait to see you Tuesday. : ] GUys who do that make the world so much better and make up for the scum bags that are in this world. yes that would make any girl smile. No, thats not moving too fast!

It doesn't sound too strong to me. It's friendly & says you care about what's going on in her life & hope to get to see her. I'd leave out the part about wanting to say good night though. If you haven't seen her in a couple of days it sound kinda silly. Word it just wanted to say a quick hi before I hit the sack or something like that. Otherwise it sounds fine.

there is no real indication to say that you are moving too fast just because you expressed that you want to meet up soon. but it's a good line. and yeah, if she likes you then she'd be happy to receive that message. did she reply your message? what did it say? keep moving in this pace. seems like you are both on the right track, right speed. just don't rush it or you'll mess the rhythm. good luck! all the best to you.

I think hope to see you this week is totally appropriate. It is something you'd say to a friend as well so it is not implying too much, but just that you like ther person.

Well, the text doesn't seem too bad.
A guy sent me a text just this morning that said, "Good Morning, Sunshine."
I loved it. It was absolutely brilliant.
I smiled the entire morning.
