Quite honestly, I was taken to church as a child. But I went away from church for, oh, almost 20 years because it didn't speak to me at all. I believed that Jesus was the son of God, who died on a cross, but that's all I knew.
Fast forward to when I was about 45 years old. Someone brought me to a good bible teaching church and I started to pay attention. I got into bible study. That was 10 years ago. I now believe that the bible is what it claims to be; given by inspiration of God. I found out more about God, about Jesus, about all the incredible promises God has for those who love Him. I understand so much more than I did when I was a child. And I love Jesus...that is why I am a Christian.

I was spiritually dead and wanted nothing to do with God. Then God sent a friend to me who began explaining the message of the Scriptures. Initially I didn't want anything to do with it. After all, I was spiritually dead. But then God, in his mercy, opened my eyes to the truth of the gospel and gave me a heart that desired to live my life for him. I then turned to him and trusted in the sufficiency of Christ for my salvation from sin and hell. Thus, the primary event in my life which CAUSED me to become a Christian was a supernatural work of God that gave me a desire that enabled me to choose to trust in Christ.

I was born into it, raised in a Lutheran school and then went through about a 10 year period of looking for answers and purpose and found myself right back at the start, but with a difference.
I had my own understanding of Jesus and God and purpose. One vastly differenent from most claiming religion convictions.

Being a Christian has made me realize that life has many different explanations, and through tough times, I can always refer to the Bible. Also, it gaurantees a place for you in heaven if you do what God wants you to.

A miraculous course of events too lengthy and personal to mention here. My heart was as hard as the most adamant atheist.
Let's just say, I have no doubts that God is real and salvation is through Christ. Whether someone believes or not is not up to me, I know that God is real. I pray that all would seek Him.

Because I choose to be... The birth of my son, the marriage to my soul mate, and the birth of my granddaughter, has helped me to see all that God offers us in this world... Reading his word everyday and applying it to my everyday life is so fulfilling, coupled with the beauty of my family, makes me want to be a Christian and serve My God always. Knowing that I always have him to turn to in good times and bad times is why I have chosen to be a Christian.

Because of the promise of heaven, and that a man died for my sins. If that isn't love I really do not know what else is.
Plus, the fact that I can see loved ones again that I have passed on. If I didn't believe that, I would of killed myself years ago. Just existing, just seems like a waste of space.

To boil it down, I am a Christian because I'm one of those people who God wanted. He doesn't want everyone. If you want to come to God, it's Him affecting you to come to Him. The people who have no interest are not being chosen to come to Him.
God broke me down. I was eventually about to commit suicide. I put my trust in Him and started to read the Bible. I found out about Him, and after He let me know that He is there.
I've been a Christian now for over 20 years.

my mom.we used to sit up late at nite and talk about all kinds of things and that is where i got my belief in Christ. its hard to imagine the world that we live in with no one bigger on our side and pushing us along or holding us up when we fall even if we feel defeated. we never really are defeated because Christ is always here for us. He lived the life and he knows how hard it can be and that is why he can and DOES intercede on our behalf to help us through until our real home is revealed. imagine this world without Christ here helping us. if u think its bad now.....
