I did get a state AND federal refund last year, and I should this year, but am not itemizing. Can I just use the figures from my last tax return and not worry about the actual form? Or can I find it online somewhere?

I think its the 1099G that I should have but don't - since the gov't gave me $$ last year.

Are you saying that you itemized last year and deducted your state taxes, then got a refund, but didn't get a 1099G for the refund? If that's your question, you can just use the amount of the refund from last year's state return.

If you are not itemizing and did not itemize last year, then the amount of your 2005 state refund does not effect your taxes for 2006, so you can enter zero or answer that you did not get a refund, it won't matter.

You do not need the 1099G to do your taxes.

Do you own stocks or bonds? Is it a 1099d or just a 1099? In either case you may need to review payroll deductions as it might be the missing amount that went to your 401 (k) plan. If it is a 1099d, it would be a dividend amount from a stock or bond.

if your 1099 is the same as last year then you can use the same figures. However if it changed then it has no use for you also you can go to your local irs office and request a transcript for that year and it will show you the exact numbers.
