Well, it did just have surgery, and although it's not common, it is possible for them to get sick (just as it would any time). Getting an animal fixed usually makes them tired for a day or so, but any other sign or length in time, you can call your vet and ask if they know what is wrong. (sometimes animals can get sick from the medicine they use, or the surgery may have an infection.)

Do you mean can the operation make it sick? Unlikely. Despite what someone said, the incision site does not easily become infected if the cat is kept inside until the stitches come out. Kitty may seem groggy and annoyed for the rest of the day, but should be pretty much back to normal by the next day.

If she seems ill, phone the vet for advice. It's unlikely to be to do with the operation.

Hi~When I had my Jackson neutered, he just sat on the couch and glared at me. LOL When I cat gets sick you call tell if you know your kitty. Jackson just wasn't himself. He knows when it's play time & he never misses it. But suddenly he'd just lay around and really didn't want to be bothered. I'd give him his food & he's just kinda sniff it then walk away. I took him to the vet & he said yep, Jackson had a virus. The vet said around 102 degrees is normal for a cat but his was 105. He spent the night while they gave him IV antibiotics. I picked him up the next day & they gave me some medicine for home. In about 4 days later he was his old self again.
Hope this helps. Lynnda~

Yeah, it is pretty easy for the incision site to get infected. If it looks like it is infected, take him back to the vet asap. Also, his immune system may be under a lot more stress right now because of the surgery, so he may be more prone to picking up cat colds or something for a little while.

If he's just acting sluggish and grumpy, and doesn't have much of an appetite, that's perfectly normal. It takes cats a while to recover from surgery... and how well would any of us feel if we'd just been neutered? :)

My cat got a serious infection after he was neutered. I had to borrow money from my parents to pay the vet bill. Had I waited my baby would not have made his first year--but happy to say he is a very healthy two and a half kitty!

Do you mean get a disease from sexual contact? I'm not sure, but yes it can get sick still.

Unless you mean sick as in an infection, then yes. Highly possible if it's tongue comes in contact with major bacteria and it cleans itself down there.

If a cat does get infected or sick, call up your vet immediately, if they get infected down there it could lead to something worse that could possible harm your cat in a horrible manner.

I hope this answers your question!
