Basically did he leave this earth as a spirit after he rose from the dead? How long after he was ressurected did he live before he accended? If he did leave in spirit form, did they bury his body again? Why don't we have a holiday for the day Jesus accended into heaven but we have one for the day he rose? Wouldn't that be something to celebrate as well? I know it's a lot of questions but i'm having trouble finding answers. Thanks!

No, He still has His perfected body of flesh and bone. Resurrection is the restoration of spirit to immortal body. Because of Jesus Christ's power over death, we will all be resurrected.

All your answers are in the Bible. Jesus left His body after He died and went to Paradise and preached the Gospel to them so that they could go to Heaven. On the third day, God raised Jesus' body back from the dead. A body that you could see and feel. The Bible says that we can have the same body that Jesus had after His resurrection. A body that can eat, walk through walls, float in space. In other words, not limited by time and space and nature. An immortal body! Because Jesus lives, we can too, if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, then God gives us the Holy Ghost. It is the Holy Ghost that gives us the power to become the Children of God.

there's a gap of 40days(?) between Jesus' resurrection & ascension to heaven.

Jesus has the glorified body, in contrast to corruptible body, when he ascended in heaven. He still has the body now in heaven. Even we, when we will be caught up into heaven on that glorious day, this corruptible body will be changed into incorruptible.

God and angels are spirits. But humans are designed to be different. Even in the Garden of Eden before sin came..humans had glorious incorruptible bodies.

When the Bible says 'flesh and spirit' cannot go with each other..the 'flesh' there means lusty and sinful nature of humans..as what the context suggests.

There is one sure thing Jesus introduced a new celebration for Christians..i.e. the 'Last Supper' ceremony with foot washing. Others were just man-made traditions (ex. Christmas, Holy week, etc) which are commonly associated with pagan origins, symbolism, and rituals.

You are an open-minded Christian..i hope it will lead you to the real truth..as what happened to me also.

It is hard enough to get people to acknowledge that Jesus rose, let alone try to reverence another day in which He died, buried and resurrected. Easter is suppose to be the day He rose and was resurrected. When He died, His earthly body ceased to exist. They simply buried the vessed His Spirit was housed in. Jesus yet lives to day. Right now He sits at the right hand of God, the Father. May God Bless U.

He still has it......and will use it if he has to.......its portable. Easter is the only christ holiday. The resurection. Christmas was a stolen holiday. Christ-in-mass was the correct celebration. The meaning was celebrating the christ in human form in all people. Go figure, Jesus was born on September 9. Christmass involves a tree(triangle, pyramid) and 5 pointed stars, maybe even six, reaths, all of it existed before christianity. Your pastor may not want to tell you that kind of stuff, the stuff of Agnostics and Pagans. Seek and you shall find. Ask and you shall have. Good Journey!

He was raised up in a spiritual body for flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God.
For 40 days he was on earth waiting for God to accept his ransom

after his resurrection he appeared to his disciples on different occasions in various fleshly bodies, just as angels had appeared to men of ancient times. He had the power to construct and disintegrate those bodies at will for the purpose of proving visibly that he had been resurrected. and he appeared to over 500 hundred persons to prove his resurrection.
The only day we should commemorate is the day he died for that is why he came into the world...to die for our sins.

There's really only one question to be answered here and you've failed to ask it directly... Did Jesus in fact rise from the dead? Without the answer to that question the remaining questions fail to have meaning unless, of course, you're merely considering the story for it's story value.

The truthful answer about his resurrection is very likely that it has been falsely reported and that Jesus didn't do any such thing at all. Medical science is already having it's difficulty just keeping living people from dieing... raising them from the dead is far beyond our capabilities and it seems reasonable to believe that it was just as outside the capabilities of the people who lived 2000 years ago.

So... what were those other questions you had...?

1.) Jesus was resurrected in bodily form. John 20:27
2.) 40 days
3.) For a Christian, everyday is a celebration of His Ascension. It is not one day, but any time you call on Him you are acknowledging this fact.

This year it will be on Thursday, May 17. A very significant day, even regarded as a Holy Day of Obligation where Catholics are expected to attend Mass.
