A. Forbidden Foods According to the Qur'an:
1. Alcohol or liquor Alcoholic drinks "confuse the mind and lead one astray".
2. Pork - In the Qur'an (and in the Old Testament of the Bible) there is a story that God cast (threw) the devil into a pig. Therefore, pork and any pork products (some types of gelatin, and lard) and even leather goods from the pig are forbidden to Muslims. This is also true of Jewish traditions. [NOTE: The disease of trichinosis is caused by worms that live in pigs and can be passed on to humans who eat unclean pork. This restriction was very important to people's health.]
3. Carnivorous (meat eating) animals and birds, e.g. lions, tigers, vultures, eagles, etc. are forbidden.
4. Other animals are also excluded: donkeys, monkeys, elephants.
5. Any animal that has died due to natural causes, killed by some wild animal, by a fall or blow are also forbidden. Of course there are good health reason for not eating animals that may be sick or diseased. Flesh that had been sacrificed for some God or Goddess by pagans was also forbidden.
6. Blood is forbidden.
7. Drugs are also forbidden (except as medical drugs).
B. Ways to Slaughter Animals
In addition, there are also ways to slaughter an animal according to Islamic rules. Otherwise their meat will be considered "haram". Generally, the animal must have its throat slit by a sharp knife and die quickly with little pain. This is done with a prayer of thanks to God. Slaughtering rules are humane (kind-hearted) and don't allow the animal to suffer.
Have fun burning the idiot :)

Yes we do.
We just do not do pork in any form. All other meats yes, including seafoods. Pork is "haram". That means, taboo. The funny thing is, it is pretty well the same as kosher meat, yet another common factor between two religions currently at war with each other.
Preferably the meat is halal. Halal means "allowed". Not all of us have access to halal meat so we do as healthy a substitute as possible. The emphasis is clean and healthy. I read labels more now to make sure there are no hidden pork ingredients in what I purchase.
I watched a man slaughter a sheep one time, in the Islamic manner. He said some prayers and then he held the animal firmly but kindly and with a very swift movement made a small cut in its neck. The animal died immediately. He had cut just the vein so that the heart continued to pump out the blood so the animal did not even have to be hung to drain. It is a definite skill.
Oh and of course we avoid alcohol. Smile. Instead of "burning" your friend, just tell him a nice Muslim says "salaam and thanks for your interest in how we eat."
Good luck.

Muslims can eat meat but they are restricted to types and methods of preperation... much like the jewish. Pork is out for sure. As well as fat (rendered and pure). For the whole list of laws you could try http://www.jamiat.org.za/hguideline.html

They eat halal meat - similar to kosher in that it is blessed at slaughter by Muslim clergy. They do not eat pork.

In my experience of life in an islamist country, the United Arab Emirates, my arab friends ate lamb, mutton, beef, chicken, turkey and - yes - camel.
No pork, but one could buy pork products there as a non-muslim.
Burn an idiot ... metaphorical, I trust.

Please do not burn your classmate. I'm an American Muslim and yes we can eat meat; though I myseld prefer fish and peanutbutter, not together of course. You are very kindly welcome. By the way we cannot eat pork, still if we are starving and nothing else is around we can eat it then.

you're thinking of vegans and sikhs. sikhhs don';t eat meat out of respect for god's creations
muslims do not eat pork and generally most don't eat anything that isn't Halal (they consider it to be dirty and thus would offend god if they consumed it)
(Halal = sacred, for a parallel, think kosher in Jewish terms)
