IN order to receive a radio signal, the reception device has to be on the same wave length as the sending device.
If someone really understands you, gets what you're about - they are said to be on the same wavelength - what you are sending they receive, and vice versa.

They are telling you that you are thinking along the same lines as they are or that they think the two of you are basically in agreement.
