In my opinion only, the beginning of the end started in 1948 when Israel became a nation. I was born in 48 and it is all suppose to happen in a lifetime. Could it be my lifetime? Like you say, nobody knows.

Even though the "Rapture" teaching is not in the Bible, I do believe that in the end, the very end, when Jesus comes back to put an end to all things and make all things new is when the dead in Christ will arise from the grave and those alive will meet Him in the air. I believe after that there will be no 7 year tribulation, no Armageddon, and no 1000 reign on earth. I do not believe in the popular "Rapture", Tim LaHaye, John Haggee teaching but I do believe in the resurection at Jesus Second coming and that is it.

I know that even the disciples thought that Jesus could come back in their lifetime and each generation since probably has, too. I think you are right that no one knows because that is what the Word says. I do hope that it is within my lifetime just because I don't want to die. I do believe in the rapture of the church before the great tribulation. Prophecies are being fulfilled all the time. It's later than we think so we better be ready. Get right.....or get left!

The 'rapture ' of the Church occurs simultaneously with Christ's second Coming in glory and the resurrection of the dead.............All occur together,(see I Thess. 4:15-17); ..."AFTER the Tribulation of those days"(Matt. 24:29-31)
"...At the LAST trumpet"... I Corin. 15:52
Don't be deceived by the fictional "Left Behind" series....which is based on a common misconception that claims the 'rapture' occurs years before Christ's Return. This is not found in Scripture.

The rapture is a fiction based on the interpretation of another fiction. The rapture is a comforting sort of escape clause indulged in by people who believe that the end of the world is going to happen in their paltry little lifetimes and since a lot of it promises to be unpleasant, they want an easy out, so they invented a shuttle bus to heaven before the big stuff starts.
Illusion upon illusion.

The Rapture will not occur until after the Tribulation. The first link below details what will happen until Christ comes back.

I hope it isn't too soon.
As a child I used to be really religious & use to pray that I would still be alive when the rapture took place.
Now that I'm older I realized that I'm not really ready to die yet.
I have too many new sins replacing older sins. Two seconds after asking forgiveness in prayer, more sinful thoughts pop into my brain. I'll never be truly pure if he did show up unexpected.

The focus of my faith is not on the rapture/Second Coming. Jesus did speak of His return, but there was so much more he lived and died for that (for me) form the key teachings associated with Christianity.
So, the key question should not be., "When will Jesus return." Instead, it should be, "What can each of us do today to care for the sick and needy, take up our cross, and surrender to the Will of God?"
In the face of all of the world's many problems, it's tempting to focus on the Second Coming. We should not, however, allow this temptation to take us away from continuing to do Jesus' work right here and now.

I believe that many more prophecies have got to happen yet before the rapture. If the rapture happens in my lifetime great and if it does not it still will be great because God said it would happen and therefore I believe it.

So many of the signs have been shown already. However we still have a few that have not yet been seen yet. The two witnesses and a temple in Jerusalem are two we can look for. I would think it will be with in the next 50 years but who knows like you said. he will wait until every one who will has a chance to repent and choose him as the lord.
