I beleive you are suppose to stay away from sugar. Sugar just isn't candy and pepsi and that stuff but sugar is everywhere. Read labels to see how much sugar is in the food you buy. Try to buy sprouted bread and not highly processed white bread. That is pretty much all sugar. If you have a high risk for diabetes make sure you take this seriously though. You might contact a nutrionist or pick up a book on the topic.

Type 2 diabetes is cause by being obese. It doesn't matter what specific foods caused you to be obese (fat vs. sugar). So just try to eat a balanced, low calorie diet.

It doesn't have anything to do with eating too much sugar. If you eat mostly sugar free foods and a lot of fatty foods, you could still get obese, and then get diabetes.

Try your hardest to stay fit and eat right.
Other than that there really is no prevention you can just lessen your chances of getting it. There will always be that small possibility.
