Logical fallacy: God provides meaning.
Individuals provide their own meaning. Theists provide their own meaning by believing in a deity and applying that doctrine to their existence. I provide meaning in my life by deciding my own doctrines for myself and applying that to my existence.

Ummmmm... no.
Atheists simply don't believe in a deity. It doesn't mean that everything is meaningless. Temporary, yes, but not meaningless. And considering you're not an atheist, you have no place saying that "to atheists, nothing matters." A heck of a lot matters to atheists. In fact, probably more than to some believers, for we believe that what we have RIGHT NOW is very important, instead of living our lives looking forward to our deaths. And our values are just as good as ANY believer. "Values" and "morals" have nothing to do with the belief in a deity. That would be like saying you have no values or morals because you don't believe that there's a Santa Claus. (Who will reward you at Christmastime for being "good" all year.)

This is perhaps the most asinine question I've seen on Yahoo Answers. You assume that "everything is meaningless and temporary" without "God"?
It sounds like you're spending your life contemplating death.
How sad...
As for atheist values, atheists tend to be much more honest and morally grounded than Christians. Consider that around 80% of America's prison population subscribes to some form of Christianity. Less than 1% are atheist.
Most humanists are atheist.
Unlike many Christians, atheists do not use dogma or doctrines to justify bigotry and hatred.
Over the last 100 years how many children have been violated by Christians? How many good Christians covered up for child rapists over the years? In history past how many people were maimed, tortured, burned alive, etc. in the name of Jesus?
With only a few exceptions, atheists don't have this blood soaked history. They are better people (most of them) than any of the zealots.
Tell me I'm not entitled to my opinion.

You make false assumptions.
The only thing belief atheists must lack is belief in a God.
Atheists can (and most do) still believe in right and wrong, free will, love, the beauty of the cosmos, etc.
Many (if not most) atheists, myself included, believe that humans choose their own paths, and create their own purpose for their lives. Their 'fate' is not dictated or controlled by any higher power. It's a freer, more joyful existence, for the most part.
The fact that everything is temporary and came about without the aid of a deity makes life all the more beautiful and precious.

Why do you need some made up god to give your life meaning. And by the way maybe it is you christians who's opinion is meaningless, afterall you are more concerned with eternity and things not of this earth. I am only concened with my life here so my opinion is more important than yours. And how do you know if athiests have values, they value family you self important idiot. they value everything everyone else does, just not myths and superstitions.

Good observation - atheism gets a very bad press. Just from using this website, it appears that some of the defensive, knee-jerk reactions of insecure theists, are laced with portraying free thinking athiests as some kind of organised evil conception, growing daily to cast their God or Gods out and take over the world, muh ha ha ha! The meaning of a word will follow its usage by the people. No individual or group can be blamed for that. Communication will prevail.

Who said atheists think life is meaningless? Or nothing matters to us? And what makes you think wise men don't sin? See, two atheists can have totally different opinions about the death penalty but neither one of them is right or wrong. People who are brainwashed by religion don't have that option to choose what they think is right or wrong because they are told what is right and what is wrong by somebody else.

For one, atheists don't believe that since there isn't a god everything is meaningless. Life, though short is beautiful and should be lived to the fullest and healthiest way you can. only a christian would percieve the world that way without a god.

Oh dear... that has got to be the stupidest argument ever.
Who told you everything is meaningless for us atheists?? Te fact that we don't believe in fairy tales or gods of all kinds doesn't mean our life is meaningless.
So, taking your argument: Muslims think that for Christians everything is meaningless because they don't believe in Allah. Nothing matters for them. Am I right?

"Since without a god, everything is meaningless"
That's your opinion. It's also your opinion, and it's an ignorant one, that nothing matters to an atheist.

hahah good question for the secular humanists to unite!
without and afterlife, life is only worth living now...
what i dont get is if you truly and I mean truly believe that than what is the point of propogating the species... what is the point of a 9-5 job... go out have fun and do as much damage as you can cuz none of it matters. when your done or about to get caught go kill yourself cuz it dont matter...
i think people are built with the need to believe and that need we call a conscience, morals, faith etc. without it we would all run rampant. so i think most people have an underlying scaredness and uncertainty. as much as they try and say god doesnt exist they cant really say he doesnt because there IS NO FACTS TO SAY HE DOESNT EXIST. there will never be any fact that says he doesnt exist. its the stupidest claim to atheism that god doesnt exist...
like me saying at the far reaches of our galaxy there are aliens playing golf... or for that matter saying there are no aliens playing golf... if they dont make their presence known i cant know one way or the other...
but i have faith and i know god is out there... i pray every day that the atheists will die and goto hell and i will laugh and run around going "i can dance all day, boom headshot"
