dieting is very bad word because diet is the way of life its not something you do for days or a few weeks, its not a sprint.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

As long as you do 30-45 minutes of cardio 3-5 times a week and take in around 1800-2200 calories a day you will lose weight.

Distance when running doesnt matter time spent running does.

I say plan on 15 minutes out and 15 minutes back.

Yes! you're doing a great job! i'll let you know my diet tips. i run a mile every day by the way!

I lost 15lbs in 5 days

1)jogging every morning (haw far? depends on your stamina)
2)tae bo 5 times a week (1hr)
3)hot yoga twice a week (1hr 30mins - to strech and relax your muscles from tae bo and jogging)

eat healthy and drink at least 80 ounces of water a day.

eating jalapenos and taking 3 table spoons of apple cider vinegar will boost your metabolism!

-i feel toned and really healthy =)

Well theres a diet not really diet no carbs. You can eat as much as you want yust no bread, pasta, things like that. Soda is ok just diet soda. If you dont even want to do that diet then just watch serving size.

It all matters how hard you run those two miles. It comes down to how much oxygen you take in (that your body uses in metabolize-ation to burn calories. So breathing twice as hard for two miles as you might do for four miles gives you the same workout...and likely less cardiovascular benefit.

One way to measure this is average heart rate. If you are panting like a dog and your heart is doing 160+ beats per minute, then yes. In fact I'd say doing 20 minutes at 160bpm beats doing an hour at 130bpm for that reason...far as weight loss. THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT RUNNING IS, UNLIKE CYCLING, FOR EXAMPLE, IT USES MANY MUSCLES AND, THUS, NATURALLY MAKES YOU BREATH HARDER AND BURN MORE CALORIES THAN MOST EXERCISES.

This is kind of hard to measure while running (if you don't say, have a pulse meter on your watch) so try it on an elliptical machine. Putting it on a fairly high resistance will also help you build muscle, which works your heart more and actually makes your heart burn more calories EVEN AFTER YOU STOP WORKING OUT.

Actually, the real trick is to work out hard (preferably on an elliptical, which doesn't leave you as injury-prone as hard running) early in the morning....which leaves your body in a high metabolism, fat burning mode for the rest of the day.

-------------------------
One last trick: diet:
NOTE THIS ISN'T "DIETING" SO TO SPEAK...YOU DO NOT FEEL LESS FULL BUT MOREOVER TIME WHEN YOU EAT AND USE SUPPLEMENTS TO KEEP YOURSELF FEELING FULL.

One major trick: NEVER EAT ANYTHING AFTER 8:00pm...IT WILL BE STORED AS FAT WHEN YOU SLEEP.

Also take LOTS OF FIBER and a good (but not huge) deal of PROTIEN supplements (if not from food)...they will make you feel full and feel hungry for less calories per meal (without making you feel starved). Drinking lots of water has a similar effect (but don't drink a ton right before or after a workout or you will feel nauseous).

AND SWAP SUGAR WITH STEVIA...IT HAS THE SAME EFFECT WITH NO SIDE EFFECTS (UNLIKE TOXIC "SUGAR SUBSTITUTES" LIKE SPLENDA).

Refined carbs (IE any type of break esp. white) are the opposite...when you feel like eating bread eat fruits instead they are a much safer way to get carbs (which, in the end of the day, you ultimately need to build muscle).

Far as fats, yes you need them to build muscle and endurance as well...but stick to olive oil in modest amounts and, if you need butter, use Smart Balance...which is designed to mimic the good fat balances in olive oil.

IF YOU DO THIS WELL....95% OF YOUR FOOD WILL TASTE VIRTUALLY THE SAME (MINUS THE BREAD/CRACKERS/REFINED-GRAIN PRODUCTS)

Best luck....
