I do work out, eat healthy and see a Counselor. I try to also write out my feelings and talk to friends/ family when needed.

Any other suggestions?

I have a tendency to feel sorry for myself over the state of my life.

Well, welcome to my life hun-and many others who feel your pain!!!!!!
Basically, you are doing what YOU can,
but that may not be enough-
you may have a more serious underlying problem
that requires more condusive therapy, and possibly med's.

Understand that depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain,,,,and when that is off, YOU are off, no matter how fit and healthy you may be,,,,you still have NO control over what depression does to you,
and if things are bad for you, and you tend to come down on yoursef like you say, that only aids in the depression-
you are being to hard on yourself,

sometimes, acceptance that we cannot have total control over all aspects of our lives-
or what other ppl say and do, helps alot,,,,,
-i didnt say it solved the problem-
Don't be so hard on yourself,
if you really dont like your life-
try to incorperate things that are healthier to/in your life,
some serious life changes may need to be made,
and if you can't figure out what those changes need to be-
-there again, seek a psychologist, or psychiatrist,,,,
they are not one and the same,,,

Perhaps your family practitioner can direct you to a clinic or some doctors in your area that might be able to help you,,,

Things really suck for me and my life too hun,,,
so if anything, take comfort in the fact that you are NOT alone, and there are others out there who feel picked on or singled out as well,,,,,

Hope you find the answers you are looking for,
blessings of peace, love, and light I send to you,
Good luck hun,,,

Over the last five years I had begun to have increasingly withdraw into a downward spiral of depression..

But now with the method I can fully focus my energy and thoughts into a decisive line on how to make my life better constantly. And it works like magic! I'm beginning to attract people to me once again and things have just been looking up since then.

Helping you eliminate depression?

Start sponsoring a child overseas for 22 dollars a month. You'll feel better about yourself and your life because these poor kids have no food, no clothes, and no medicine or school books. Sometimes they don't even have plates to eat off of even if they had food. You will feel that you have it so much better and also feel good you are helping the little guy out!!

Its best to see your doctor, depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. Analyze what is making you sad and get rid of it or change it, and do something new. Join a club, course, do something you've been wanting to do and haven't because "it" is in the way. Read self-help books that specify to your situation, trust me, it will help because you'll know it just isn't you, there are others that feel the same. Look up Law of Attraction and be what you want to be. best wishes :)

You are probably asking this question bc you are getting deeper into your core issues - shame and guilt.

I'm suggesting you read Charles L Whitfield, MD, Healing the Child Within and his other related books. You cannot ask for enough 'answers' to your life that you don't already know or can be 'found' from within you.

empathy, not pity...

Here's a quote from a book I'm currently reading:
Dear God,
I ain't what I wanna be
I ain't what I'm gonna be
I ain't what I ought to be
but thank God I ain't what I used to be

Do something fun, above all things! Get togethe a bunch of friends who are close to you and have a party, go somewhere fun, do something to get your mind off of it. Don't be alone! When you're alone you think, and you don't want to think about being depressed!

There are many people who would laugh at the possibility of altering their destinies. This is due to the fact that it thinks that no one gets more that what is written in his fate.

Get your insulin checked. If you have high insulin, it can cause blood sugar imbalances that may result in depression.

There is some info about low blood sugar, and the symptoms that can result, at www.hufa.org.

start a blog. thats wat i did....

http://helterskelterhereiam.blogspot.com/

if thats not the place to get out ur self pity where very few ppl u know and deal w/ every day will witness it, i dont know wat is.

writing is hard to keep up. blogging is so much easier, and u feel like ur talking to someone, even tho in reality, very few are prob actually bothering to read much at all.

plus, it helps lay it all out so u can analyze ur situation better and make plans and stuff.

also, try reading up on depression so u can understand wat to expect better.
