I haven't had the problem, but I don't eat groceries from wal mart.
It makes sense that it would be spoiled. A national company like wal-mart probably buys from some super-mega-industrial farm in nevada and ships their stuff to all their stores across the country. Local and regional stores buy from places that are closer to them, so the food isn't getting stale in the back of a truck traveling through the desert somewhere.

I usually get my groceries at Walmart, because they have the best prices compared to other stores in my area. Walmart's "Great Value" brand has saved my family A LOT of money. Also, it's most convenient to go there, because usually I have to get some non-food items as well, and they have all that at good prices also. The produce at the Walmart in my area is generally of good quality. I have, however, been to out of town Walmarts and seen some pretty disgusting produce! I guess it all depends on the quality of management at the store. I usually don't shop at Dollar General. I think that they tend to raise the prices on their food because people that don't shop around will assume that since they are the "Dollar Store" that everything will be cheaper. It's definitely not true. I choose Walmart over them any day. EDIT: I noticed some people commenting about Aldis. They do have great prices on some foods. Unfortunately, the Aldis in my area is very small and doesn't carry a very wide variety compared to Walmart. And their fresh produce section it terrible. I guess it really all depends on your area and the management of the stores.. if Aldis sold more things that I needed, I would probably go there instead.

They probably aren't rotating the product properly, or leaving spoiled product on the shelf. I deliver beer, and rotaion of product is almost as essential as delivering it. So, knowing that a lot of people that work at Wal-Mart aren't very smart in the first place, that would be my best guess, that you're buying close to date or out of date product.

Our town is getting a super wal-mart soon. I think that shoppers put food items in there cart and continue to shop for clothes, electronics, sporting, etc. When they are over their purchasing limit, they put the food items where they are, in a different none refrigerated area!!!!!!! Then the workers come along and put the nasty spoiled food back for you to buy and eat!!! GROSS!!!!!!!!! I'll stick with Safeway!!!!

I don't have any problems like that with my super wal-mart...it just might be a problem at your store and the timing on getting things stocked into their coolers.

I don't advise buying groceries at Walmart. They're disgusting. Their stuff can be shipped up to 3000 miles to their final destination (your Walmart store) And..do you really want to be buying the cheapest cuts of meat you can find, full of antibiotics and artifical hormones? That's what they have at Walmart. Isn't your body worth more than that??
At our Super Walmart, much of the produce is wilted, and much of it looks like it's rotting on the shelf. Gross!
Shop elsewhere for your groceries dear, you'll thank me for it later

I've seen that even in small neighborhood stores. I bought sour cream that had a yellow mold growing on the surface when I opened it. My brother found a thick shard of glass in the bottom of his ice cream. No explanation for that.I bought a pork loin last week that expired way before its expiration date. It was so rotten.

Walmart's meat is the lowest standard of USDA quality rating. Even their choice meats are the lowest quality for that standard. Their meat lacks marbling that makes a steak flavorful and tender. It is the same with their pork products. This is one reason their prices on these items are cheaper than their competitor. For great steaks, I recommend going to Costco. Their choice meats are so high quality that they close to being prime. And they sell them in four packs so you won't have to freeze them. Sam's Club steaks are also decent but they don't have quite the quality standard of Costco in my opinion.

Wal Mart groceries scare me. The deli at ours smells like everything back there is rotten...you can smell it halfway through the store.

Sounds like an isolated problem. I haven't had any problem with any of the food at our Walmart. They may need to replace a stocker at your store if he/she isn't handling the food properly.
Be sure to report it to a manager. Without customer feedback, they won't know there's a problem.
