I'm going on a trip to DC with my school next week and I have so much anxiety. I usually don't get anxiety at anything, but lately a lot of things will give me anxiety. I'm stressed out about it, and can't really enjoy things I used to anymore. A month ago I would have been so excited, but now it's killing me. I'm stressed, can't enjoy anything, and can never go to sleep. What should I do? More importantly, what the hell is going on with my damn mind?

Before you resort to medicines, have a talk with your doctor. There is a type of anxiety that is physically based. Even when it's emotionally based, you aren't nuts, not ready for the funny farm, okay? Either way, a few sessions of talk therapy can make a big difference. This is a fairly common thing.

I had this for a while, in 1970. I was living in my first apartment; I had no car; my job went out of business; and I had no money. I became terrified to leave my apartment. It was BAD!
At that time there were no medicines for this -it wasn't even considered an illness. Though I went to a psychiatrist for help, he scoffed at me, and said there was nothing wrong with me. So I went through this on my own. Today things are much different. Anxiety can be diagnosed, counseling is available, and you'll be feeling back to your old self pretty soon. So don't despair, but do take action right away. There is no need for you to suffer any longer than you already have, okay?

Has something changed in your life? Sounds like your a bit depressed or you full of worry. What you should do is take the time to write down everything that is bugging you and then go back threw it and see if you can work it out. If it gets a bit difficult talk to your closest friend and see if they can suggest something. Talk to your parents and if all else fails try calling your local Mental Health Center and get someone from the outside to talk to. There is help out there my friend! Keep your chin up it will all work out! It is all good! Oh and smile!

Run out to the drug store and get some SAM-e, it will help you feel better, no side effects. It is natural and you won't feel any reaction, all of a sudden you're just calm. Within one week you should feel better.

Talk to your parents about this.
If you do not want to talk to your parents, or they do not take you seriously, go to the school nurse and talk to her about it.
