"When you remove your socks, do you notice that they have left imprints on your skin?"

I was on a website looking for healthy eating habits and menus, etc - and they asked me if this ever happened after working out.

It is one way of determining if you are retaining fluid do to poor circulation in the lower leg. It might not be enough to make you think something was wrong, but the increased fluid in the tissues would cause the skin to retain the elastic or fabric marks when the sock was taken off. It could also be due to something as simple as having your shoes and socks fit too tightly, as well. But the reason for the question is to try to evaluate circulation problems in the lower legs.

The imprints could, or could not, be related to water retention in your lower legs. This happens if you beginning to suffer from hyperinsulinemia.
There is no relationship with working out, exept that working out is the best prescription to overome hyperinsulinemia, along with a healthy diet.
Good luck.

If you workout in socks with elastic, and your feet swell with exercise, then the elastic may leave imprints on yours skin. It is a sign of edema (gathering of fluid/swelling) and tells them something about your overall state of health.

The only reasons I can come up with the answers to this weird question are the following.

1. swelling of the ankles due to edema, medical condition.
2. swelling of the ankles due to water retention.

It is more of a medical question, but they may be trying to figure out part of your medical history by asking these questions.

Probably to see if you have pitting edema (swelling of the feet). Some people retain water, and it's normal for your feet to swell towards the end of the day. If you feel like your feet are aching however or you easily get short of breath, mention it to your doctor.

I think it is very normal to have your socks imprinted on your feet.

Circulation maybe. I have noticed that sometimes after I exercise, especially if my socks or shoes are to tight.
