Mono is HIGHLY contagious. It is labeled the kissing disease, but in all reality you are more likely to get it from wiping your hands on the same towel as someone that has mono, then touching your mouth, etc..... When my kids have it ( 2 of my kids have chronic mono) the Dr. tells them to use their own towels, washrags, glasses etc... Then he tells me to bleach all of it. Alot of people get mono and do not know it, they contribute it to a bad cold or sinus infection. Mono can be deadly with the right circumstances, and needs to be treated with steroids not antibiotics. With Chronic Mono, you have to watch closely for immune related deficiencies, Leukemia, etc... If you SUSPECT that you may have contracted Mono, give it about 4-5 days(it takes that long to show up in a test as positive) tell your Dr. and request a Mono test (a blood test) Good Luck

Yes, mono is contagious. Most mono in high schools is transferred by kissing or by sharing drinks (as often happens at sporting events even with athletes).

Very contagious, like all herpes viruses (Epstein bar is the virus responsible for it).
You can getting through saliva, as it is known by the "kissing disease' but in fact, you can get it from badly wash silverware and china, and glasses (i got it through the cafeteria when I was in college, many in my class did, and it was tracked to badly wash dishes and such).
